This guy is more of an 8 in his preferred position , Malinovskyi would be more of your attacking backup for lingard .

Thats not good.
If the lad doesn't want to be here, then we don't need him. Theres a fine line between stacking the club with decent players to take us to the next level and having one or two mercenaries with their eye on something else down the line who affect the dressing room.

Like it or not if we stay up this season its going to be 75% effort, hard work and desire.
You are right, let’s not try ambitious signings and convince players that are clearly a level above where we are currently to try and join.

Know your place Forest.

Come on Rz, that's not what I am saying. I am sure you appreciate theres a balance to be achieved. I could be completely wrong about this guy and maybe he will bleed Forest given time but I worry about the idea hes sitting on our contract and his agents are lugging his signature around loads of clubs in Europe.
Over the years we've had loads of talented players who were more interested in themselves than the club and sometimes the higher the talent the bigger to ego. Take Pierre for example...was his time with us a success?. He scored loads, let the line and probably took us to a level we wouldn't have achieved without him. But he evicerated the club when he got fed up, so its not without risk...

A page or so back, everyone was excited that he was coming and for seemingly a good price. A value buy.

He doesn't become a different player if he wants to hold out for a better offer. If ends up coming to us were still get that player.

That he might be motivated to play at a higher level should be good thing. If were a stepping stone, he still has to show the next club.

I hope we get him and we see his value.

You may be right.

I'm certainly not saying I "know" theres a issue with this player, just that the way we've resurrected our transfer business over the last 18 months has been about ensuring we get players with the right attitude as well as physical attributes. Or put another way, this sort of "open advertisement" on twitter that in fact the player might prefer a bigger/richer/warmer club were one to exist has not occurred with any of our other signings and that worries me, a little.

But I am fully prepared to accept I know very little about this player and you may know more and may indeed be completely right

The people I want ro know about him being the right character are in our recruitment process.

I'm simply speculating that he could have the right character and be holding out for a higher level. They're not incompatible.

Equally, the club could share your view and our interest will wane.

Agreed. And you know what, for the first time in about 25 years I trust our recruitment team to get that right, although I would say they've had alot on their plate over recent times!

Given the wording in these leaks, and the sheer number of different sources, the lad likely wants to go elsewhere. Times like these we set a reasonably hard deadline as to not get f**ked around and waste time.

Not sure if he would be AM backup, even if we did manage to pull it off (which would be great obviously).

He's a professional footballer, not a die hard Reds fan. He's a player with a pretty good pedigree and high ceiling so of course he's waiting to see if someone else comes in. What if a Dortmund or Atletico Madrid or even a more established PL club comes in for him, offering more money etc. Its a no brainer for a foreign professional footballer with no ties to the club or city.

This probably happens for every single transfer, the only difference here is that its actually been put in a tweet.

Yep, not hard to motivate such a player: "Your career is stalling. We're giving you a chance. Come here, remind people why they thought you were the next best thing and be the best player in this team, then next summer if the interest is there from other clubs we will sanction a move."

I'm still encouraged by this. Surely can't expect a player who has been a CL mainstay his career to drop everything and rush over to sign for a new PL team without giving further thought to other destinations?

Yeah heard nothing from anybody on our end yet to get too excited.

Could just be us doing the agent a favour and getting his name out there for other clubs.
Still wonder if it's flexing to wolves - look at who we could get for less.

The other thing somewhat against us with the player is that with a year left he might think he can get better as a free agent. Hopefully the pull of the prem is strong, and our usual transfer rivals/stalkers aren't interested.

We probably won't get him, but I'm glad we are throwing our hat in the ring at least. Quality players are always likely to attract a lot of interest, so him waiting to see who else comes in before committing to signing for us isn't that much of a surprise really.

First Team Squad

This article published yesterday seems to be pretty confident that he's coming to us.
By sounds of it he was due to go to Betis but they are struggling with FFP so cannot offer terms he asking for, Leicester had a look at him too but sounds like we are front runners now
