A bit harsh to suggest he had no end product last season, still scored 8 goals and got 4 assists. Not sure they're fully comprehending where we've come from and what level we are when they say he's not quite the player he was when the likes of Juventus, Real Madrid etc. were looking at him either, not quite good enough for those teams is still way above anything we expected to sign this summer.

As for the work rate and defensive discipline stuff, assume he'll be coming in to compete with Lingard in the #10 role. His stats on the defensive side when he plays that position vs other attacking mids in the top 5 leagues were perfectly acceptable last season:



Out of interest defensive side of the game obviously not as good by comparison to other CMs but mostly everything else is among the best in the top 5 leagues:

A lot of it isn’t even put into perspective that we are a newly promoted side.

Any critique of him is based on the expectations that he will play for an elite team and will reach an elite level.

They are probably trying to keep it quiet maybe? We have seen others try to hijack other deals.

I think if it was bull we would have heard so by now, surely.

Fabrizio, Will Unwin & Jacque etc have been quick to shut down other non-stories..

I don't think it's bullshit, but I don't think any of the most reliable sources are particularly confident it is going to happen, which is why we've not heard a peep out of them.

I think the chances of no one else matching our offer are very low personally.
