Chris Hughton has commented positively about him, and he comes across as a decent bloke in that piece. Unless something has been lost in translation, he seems slightly confused by our attendance-figures though.

Corsicans are well known for ‘rounding up’ , so 30 odd thousands in the stands , better to say 40 to be on the safe side.

I still think it’s shit he is both our scout and olympiakos’s scout. It’s such a conflict of interests. If he finds a new Cisse will Oly get first dibs? I’d rather he choose Oly or Forest. This maybe why we don’t get any stellar players as well it might not be his ability but if he does find one than Oly gets them.

Or the fact we're at the chuff end of the championship and Oly get to play in the Champions League every year?

He does have a point though. If Modesto or anyone else for that matter is employed to scout talent for both clubs, exactly how is what is found divided up? You would expect that as Oly are the CL side in their top division and we're 17th in the 2nd tier they would probably get the player. So we'd already be getting the players which they find which Oly don't want in addition to the ones we already had that way. Of all the players who have moved between Oly and Forest really only 2 have worked out - Bouchalakis and Cafu.

Thinking about it I wonder how it would have dropped if we'd basically had a talent-share with another club when we have found people before - like when Friio recommended Moussi to Calderwood (about the only decent thing he did for Forest) if we'd been sharing scouting with someone like Dinamo Zagreb at the time would we have got him or would he have gone to them?

We haven't really done that well with imports recently - mostly they tend to be linked with Mendes or have played for Oly - or indeed for that matter most of what was brought in last summer wasn't really good enough. But you can see what the 4 Hughton has brought in will add to the team. Might be better after all if we just let Hughton and Brazil look after it.

It’s actually a mitigating reason for Modesto as well as to why he hasn’t found anyone stellar yet. We’ve seen him do it at Oly but maybe Oly get first dibs so it’s harder for Modesto. It’s just such a conflict of interest and it’s kit good for Forest that we could potentially lose a good signing to a bigger club. I’d prefer an independent head scout to be honest.

The other issue is Brexit, of course. Given the new points system we're unlikely to be able to get Oly reserves in and likewise people like Majewski or Moussi from lesser leagues would also be difficult. i.e. most of the foreign market the CH looks at and even the lower PL clubs (not sure whether they were PL at the time but Leics with Mahrez and Kante).

It all points more to either loaning PL youngsters like we did with Garner or promising players from the lower divisions on the cheap, which can't be a bad thing with Brazil and Hughton.

Totally agree so his pool of players he gets to look at is quite small now. His role just by circumstance has become a lot less now.

Seeing how happy Alf is with Hughton's recruitment, let me add to his joy: although I've seen no reports in the press suggesting it, my gut feeling is that Modesto is much more inolved with us now (two of our three signings in January seem to have been his suggestion -both seem excellent), so, presumably, less involved with you.

That was back in February. Now there are reports in the Greek press that Modesto will indeed be much less involved with you and much more involved with us.

The impact of Brexit on recruitment is possibly a factor, but it's probably for the best. Not that he won't be blamed by some for any future recruitment fails.

On the internet they kept saying all the way through that he was going to show up in WandaVision. He never did.

Must've been removed when the OS page was updated for Dourekas, although I can't understand why Vrentzos is still listed given he returned to Greece?

Vrentzos has retained a role in overseeing finances from afar, as both Randall and Murphy have mentioned, if memory serves.
