To put this into a simpler perspective:

Under these rules, Forest would have been unable to sign Guy Moussi and Radoslaw Makewski, and it might have been a stretch to get João Carvalho because (if my maths is correct) he’d not played enough matches.
True, though another thing I'm not sure on is what under 21 international caps mean towards the points if anything at all.

Seeing how happy Alf is with Hughton's recruitment, let me add to his joy: although I've seen no reports in the press suggesting it, my gut feeling is that Modesto is much more inolved with us now (two of our three signings in January seem to have been his suggestion -both seem excellent), so, presumably, less involved with you.

I think Modesto will be less involved simply because of the new rules for overseas players post-Brexit, which makes signing overseas players a lot more difficult.

Those same rules of course, also make it more difficult for Modesto to „work“ in the U.K., especially if he ain’t resident there.

Getting them through the door without CH actually wanting them might be a bit more difficult as well

It isn't difficult to get " Settled Status " if you have been in the UK for 5 years. Not sure when his arrival was

If anything the new rules would probably make his role more relevant, or certainly an overseas scouting department.

I think it would be stupid for the club to suddenly abandon international scouting which is seemingly what a lot of people want.

Yes, but to get that, you have to be *Resident*. Not just - for example - a casual visitor.

I highly doubt things are as black and white as that.

He is an international scout anyway, why would he be a UK resident. You can travel from or to the UK to conduct business, you can have an international employee without them living in the UK.

He was there when Krovinovic signed.

I doubt his role has changed at all from the summer, Sabri had control of transfers in the summer, Hughton probably has control now. If a good player comes up it'll get recommended.

Well, yes, if you have a working visa.

Otherwise he’s limited to 90 days in any six months. Of course, that might be plenty of time.

Whatever the reason, it's a good thing. :)

It shows we're moving in the right direction at last.

Why isn't Modesto a "football man"? He enjoyed a decent and lengthy career, playing 500-plus games at the highest levels in France, Italy and Greece, with some good clubs before moving onto the development-side of the game with Olympiacos.

Also, for the record, Chris Hughton speaks highly of him.

Modesto won't be here next season. Not a prayer.

He'll be moved back to Greece.

Well I trust Chris Hughton a hell of a lot more when it comes to the second division of English football than Modesto and whoever we employed before him. I’m also against us sharing scouts with Olympiakos.

He gave an interview to a local radio station in Sardinia.

He presents himself as working mostly for Olympiacos and less for Forest (and talks about Cagliari players whom he watches for us). And I repeat that he is spotted over here much more than last year.

Modesto (regardless of his titles) started as a head-scout for us who also worked part-time for Forest, then the situation was reversed, and now it seems to have returned to the first period.
