Felipe Rodrigues "Morato" da Silva

Was he that awful? Their second was jammy as and otherwise he was caught out with a layoff.

There were a number of times first half where we were so open it looked like watching Ange again. I struggle to find CBs at fault when it's 2 on 2 or whatever.

Yeah he was GP. He bungled half of his challenges, his playing out from the back with medium to long distance passes was woeful and he got his distances between him and Jair totally wrong time and again allowing us to be cut open.

It was a horrendous performance yet again against lower league opposition.

He might be good in a different league, with less pressure and a slower tempo. Just not here.
Aye, if we can just find the lad a league where he doesn't have to read the play, make a tackle, or head the ball, he'll be the next coming of Lucio!

It's strange how the Portuguese league has this air of romance about it when it comes to Benfica, Porto and Sporting. In reality it's just the Scottish league on steroids, i.e it's very hard to gauge the quality of players playing for the big three.

I might have been a little impaired but he'd have possibly hit the heady heights of a 4 or 5/10 than a 1 for me. And as a paid member of the defenders union their second goal was jammy as f*** - player got the break of the ball not once but twice to set up the shot.

Whatevs though - folk don't like him so he'll never be good enough, and if he was a 5 he should be at least an 8 against that level. I still think he's a decent squad player - he's probably not going to be a top level premier league defender, granted.

He can do all these things, but often fails to do them successfully when there's pressure or little time, or both. The Greek League would be ideal for him - Julian Biancone is doing absolutely fine here.

That's the thing though GP, I'm not blaming him for the goal, I recognise it was extremely unfortunate. It's the rest of his performance I have an issue with and it was miles off it.

I thought there were several far worse and think our primary pairing would have found playing in front of that midfield difficult if I'm honest.
There were loads of bad performances but if we're talking about Morato then I'm focussing on him.

He still has to do better with his individual battles, distances between his other CB and be able to play the ball out better. They're all things within his control and he failed miserably against Champ opposition. Worrying.

To be fair he has failed against stronger, and weaker opposition.
Seems to be a slow learner.

Distances wise that, I think, is the first time those two have played together, and there were three or four times where we'd been so open that him and Cunha were left 2v2. It felt very Ange at times in that first half in terms of openness.

Could/should he have done better last night? Yes. I do think it would be really hard to look decent as a CB behind that midfield though you're right in suggesting he should do better...

I probably find myself defending him since he was an early season scapegoat under Ange, when it was frankly impossible to look like a defender in his setup.

I've thought he was rubbish for a while (unless he's alongside two beasts in Milenkovic and Murillo), but the second goal at Everton was the clincher for me. As bad as John's rush of blood at Villa, but half the scrutiny.

He can't defend for toffee, I'm amazed anyone is still sticking up for him.

It’s like only half his football brain is ever engaged. First half he anticipated an interception nicely and I thought “that was some impeccable defending,” then a second later he nonchalantly passed the ball back towards a wrexham player who was now goal side of him. A sublime and absurd moment all in one that encapsulates Morato as a defender. However I do agree that there were far worse performers in Forest shirts last night

I know, I don't either and I feel bad for him on a personal level. Unlike with most of the lads getting stick at the moment though, this is based on far more than just 4 or 5 games for the club!
He's at least played a part for us - decent squad player (solid to defend a lead in a three as he did again the other night) and I'm pretty sure I remember a couple of decent performances when starting earlier this season, albeit under Ange (so a loser before he even entered the pitch).

If he was first choice might pile on too, but as it is he has his uses.
