Thanks for the memories just a shame we didn’T have a squad as committed to the cause as you were...good luck with your future except when you play us

Good luck to him! Love the amount of folk saying not good enough standard for what we are after.

I think he was in the better half of our squad. Typically it makes sense to upgrade/get players in then move players out.

A player who saw off many managers, all of whom tried to replace him.

Suspicious.

This shows we're a different club now. Not settling for mediocrity any more.

The face of a man that has just been told he has to drive to Hull on daily basis for the next 3 years, whilst being held at gun point and forced to smile for the camera

Oh he was definitely one of our better players, but we finish near the bottom of the 2cnd division every year. Just goes to show how bad we've been/are.

Re: Eric Lichaj appreciation thread.

Oh dear, is this some kind of punishment for Eric? I know he was a bit of a plonker towards the end of last season but Hull? He’s better than that.

I will miss him. He’s certainly served us well over the years and tolerated some crappy times in the process.

He always put in a good shift, deserved the adoration following a few super goals and had nothing but good things to say about us and his team.

I think this is a bad move for him and for us but we don’t know what Karanka has in planned to replace him. It’d better be good.

Re: Eric Lichaj appreciation thread.

Certainly outstayed his welcome by a couple of years at least, think the fact we've been a shit show has helped him stick around.

Leaving at the same time as David Vaughan, who won't have as much of a fanfare purely due to the power of social media.

Having said that, Lichaj was free and gave us some good performances, a pity he went downhill. Possibly got a bit too comfortable for his own good.

Now that the dust has settled, a non-sentimental view from outside: he may have been a nice guy, he may have helped in difficult times, he may have tried his best, but he was simply not good enough.

Summed up perfectly.

Who ever you are if you want top level football you need better.

Summed up perfectly, and I think most people share this view.

It adds to the feeling that this summer is very much an end of an era.

I disagree. I think he was a decent enough player for this level, good enough to fill in at either full back position if not start. Personally I think he's better than Darikwa, so if either were to go I would have liked Lichaj to stay.

Byram is an upgrade though.

“Decent enough” players don’t cut it anymore.

He wouldn’t get near a place any of last season’s top six sides, and that’s who we want to compete with.

In a cohort of the likes of Lee Peltier, Alan Hutton and Andre Wisdom I don't think he's any worse.

Fredericks was the stand out right back in the league this year, and we'd have to spend a lot of money to get someone of his quality in. Byram is probably a good middle ground though on loan.

Fatih Karagümrük. Not one I’ve heard of, I must admit

Ah. Karagümrükspor.

They have a certain reputation in Turkish football as having the most violent supporters (which in Turkish football is indeed a laudable thing).

Quite the achievement really

It definitely is.

Having once attended a Galatasary-Fenerbahçe match, I can tell you the atmosphere is somewhat spicy!

My best friend always tells me how his team, Galatasary, killed two Leeds supporters.

One day I will go with him to a match when he’s back in his home country, that’d be tight.

Decent defender. Burned out for his time but I guess that's the way they all go.

Good luck Eric
