English Football Stadiums that can be seen from a Motorway

I miss floodlights.

They were part of travelling away years ago, you’d see floodlights on the skyline and get goosebumps.

I started watching Forest before floodlights and spent ages looking for the ground which would have been easy to find if we had had floodlights and the big Trent End.

Brentford on the M4 into London although not as easy now they have built up in between. New staduim is a little further down too.

Best view of Brentford is coming in to 28R at Heathrow (though I think it's now 27R; can't really see a reason for the re-alighnment, perhaps our old compasses were inaccurate).

I've been going on a bit here. Oh dear, the penalty of living alone, you can't keep quiet for long.

Just thinking, I hadn't realised that so many were so close to major roads. I spent ages touring round looking for some of these places and the direct route was there all along!

Are there any stadiums that can be seen from space?

And possibly just Tranmere Rovers from the M53 (the floodlights, at least).

You can certainly see the Boulevard of Broken Dreams from any seat in the City Ground.

West Brom from the M5.

Technically yes, it's no more than 200 metres from the motorway, however to actually see it you need to leave the motorway as the M6 goes through a cutting with a roundabout above at ground level.

You might just be able to see the tops of the floodlights if approaching from the North on the M6, or you have Barry's elevated view from the cab of a lorry.

It's the same for many grounds these days, you know they are there but the motorway or roads have been heavily planted with trees totally masking the stadium.

Although not a motorway, go down the A50 past the Britannia Stadium, home of Stoke City and you can quite easily drive straight by it without noticing with all the foliage in the way.

Yes I might be getting the two mixed up. The memorial is a bit further away ain't it.

Yep, The Mem is about a mile or two away from the M32. The old ground at Eastville is now the IKEA which can be seen as you drive into Bristol.

Those large sites seem perfect for large retail establishments. The Old Showground in Scunthorpe former site of Scunny is now a Sainsbury's and Fellows Park, Walsall is now a Morrison's.
