I think we're in desperate need of a Davis.

He adds an extra dimension.

£10m or below and gerrim in.
Davis will provide the perfect foil for Johnson as we've already seen. He's exactly what Johnson isn't, hard to shake off the ball, left-footed, can challenge in the air. If only he could add more goals to his game he'd probably be playing for a top 6 side.

Jury's very much out on Awoniyi at the moment.

Awoniyi is improving as he settles in.
Against Valencia, he made a massive difference in thos last 20 minutes or so.
Don't write him off yet: he is going to continue to improve and will end the season as our top scorer/assistor

Not written him off at all. He's clearly got quality if you see his Berlin goals and there will be all sorts of reasons why a player needs time to settle.

I definitely expected a bit more on the ball but I suppose if he had that we'd be talking about a 50m player not a 17m one.

I remember everyone banging on about Sarr at the beginning of last season. Guessing he had a pretty quiet one, otherwise he'd have been picked up by someone.

Add injury’s to the lack of goals and you have the full picture.
Not saying Davies does have good qualities but on those two key metrics he’s a worry, particularly if you are relying on him as a consistent sub/back up.

I’d take him but I a) wouldn't pay top dollar for him b) wouldn’t have sky high expectations and c) would have a “back up for the back up” in the squad in case he spends 6 months injured

Imagine the teeth gnashing from the Hammers mob if we beat them to Dennis' signature after the Lingard move!?

you are correct he will get better but at the end of the day he was brought in to score goals something in preseason he failed to do but i'm not writing him off

A striker like him will thrive on through balls and crosses. Crossing we can maybe do with our wings backs, quality passing from midfield not so much.

He was also arguably the best player on the pitch vs Valencia.

What's his injury record like?
If he is to be the main striker other Surridge what other options up front to forest have or will they adopt a false no.9 , i think its vitally important the Midfield come up with the goods

I don't under stand people writing off strikers (ie Awoniyi) early on with a new club. Look at Haaland--he's an incredible talent, and people are suddenly comparing him to Andy Carroll after the Community Shield. Which is completely bonkers. If Pep buys Haaland and then uses him as he used Jesus and Aguero, he's an idiot. And Pep is no idiot. City will adjust their tactics and Haaland will flourish. Pep' systems are involved and it will take some time.

Agree. Along the same lines, there's no way Cooper is silly enough to play a style that reduces Awoniyi to a stationary, back-to-goal figure up front. That's just not how we play, and it's certainly not what his highlights look like. We need to settle the midfield and allow the forwards to understand the ball movement patterns before we can judge anything.

I like the sound of Dennis , a PL goal every third game played is pretty damn useful !
