For all the talk about Lingard upsetting the dressing room harmony, I'd be far more concerned about bringing in so many players that some were never going to feature.

'Nottingham Forest are the latest team to show an interest in the 24-year-old. The Athletic has been told by sources close to Dennis they were encouraged by meetings that took place with the Forest hierarchy. The aim, if an offer comes to fruition, would be to partner Dennis with fellow Nigerian Taiwo Awoniyi, who signed from Union Berlin. Before any deal is sanctioned, Forest manager Steve Cooper would want to speak to the player first to carry out his own due diligence.'

Nice to hear we are back in for him.

Another midfielder, Cornet and Dennis would make this into a truly fantastic window if we can make those deals happen.

I'm thinking it'll be one of Cornet or Dennis for that left forward/ striker option we seem to want. Still sounds like we're after a LWB (Moreno), AM (MGW, Ramsey, McAtee) and CM (Garner, Stach, Carvalho) after that, seems ridiculous because it could be another £70m in there and that's without the £12.5m for Mangala.

This sounds like Coops is aware of his "personality issues" and wants to rule the thumb over him first

Personally I'd rather have Cornet instead of Moreno, as he can cover LWB as well as various attacking positions. I still can't really get my head around what the logic is of spending a big fee on a 29-year old LWB after having signed two LWBs already.

That's how I'd do it too but Moreno links definitely aren't going away.

Yeah, talk of this seems to be resurfacing on both sides over the last few days. Good player, but I am not sure this potential deal is the wisest use of our money (which is uncharacteristic of Forest nowadays!).

I feel like it was Cornet but he's intimated he wants to go West Ham or Everton so we have started going guns for Moreno.

I am basing this on nothing.

I doubt he has a burning desire to go to Everton over any other club to be honest, and at the moment West Ham have yet to bid for him or even consider bidding for him.

Even if Cornet is off the table and we want another LWB to cover Richards injury, there are surely more affordable options than Moreno?

I'm not sure, I think Forest want a left sided attacker who can also play up front, Cornet just so happens to be able to cover at LWB as well, so we're assuming that's why Moreno is the alternative, I actually think we seem to want a LWB as well as either Cornet or Dennis. I wonder whether we'll skip signing RWB cover to facilitate that, in the case that Laryea and Mbe Soh do go on loan it'd leave us with 9 defenders for a back 5. Perhaps the thinking is either Richards or Toff can cover RWB competently enough or Toff is a good enough defender to cover LCB, either way it'd leave us looking fairly well balanced at the back without being overly bloated and despite having only one specialist RWB.

Not sure why West Ham need him. They've just signed Scammaca, who looks an absolute beast of a player to be fair.

I'm sure being able to pair up with his international team mate will be a big pull factor.

Fingers crossed.

I would say Biancone to cover for Williams, although, he was poor against Notts. Possibly one of the reasons behind Steve Cooper's frustration.

In terms of the LWB position, I'm not sure why we'd need another? I know Richards is injured, but Toffolo should be good enough cover? And if he's crocked then Williams to LB and Biancone to RB. Cooper clearly knows what he's doing but remaining funds probably needs allocating further up the field.

Awoniyi Johnson and Lingard is fine by me .. but the only available cover is Cafu/Mighten - that'll leave us very short. Who knows, I'm sure Cooper knows what he's doing but I can imagine he's growing frustrated at hitting stumbling blocks with bringing in extra quality/depth further up the pitch. Unfortunately, as much as empathise with Coops, it's a byproduct of being a newly promoted club. I imagine that greasing selling club's palms and attracting players will be far easier the closer we get to the close of the window
