Emmanuel Bonaventure Dennis

Has he singed yet?
I don't under stand people writing off strikers (ie Awoniyi) early on with a new club. Look at Haaland--he's an incredible talent, and people are suddenly comparing him to Andy Carroll after the Community Shield. Which is completely bonkers. If Pep buys Haaland and then uses him as he used Jesus and Aguero, he's an idiot. And Pep is no idiot. City will adjust their tactics and Haaland will flourish. Pep' systems are involved and it will take some time.
Yup, looking for an idea as to how the season will go and how players will fare through a charity shield match is a bit pointless. It's a glorified friendly.

The way things are stacking up I’d be happy with this lad as our final extra attacker option. Like the way he looks after the ball and beats a man, great balance, good finisher too.

I think it takes time to match up a striker with the style of player. Both have to be adjusted.

Looking at the Community Shield, not for that long I must admit, it looked as if they had forgotten Haarland was there and were so enjoying that ponderous intricate inter-passing they so enjoy. I'm sure the long through balls will start to fly soon and he'll find his range.

Same with our strikers. All will become clear soon.

Probably the most realistic signing to happen with those mentioned recently, even though Watford have started well.

A significant cash boost to them also.

I’d love us to sign Dennis but I can’t see it happening on loan with an option to buy. Assume this means we envisage using our last loan space for a striker within the budgeting plan, so if we’re serious about signing him I would imagine that may need a re-think.

He says with no knowledge on the matter whatsoever

Absolutely no chance Watford will agree to send him out on loan. Just pay the money Forest.
Imagine there is a chance but it involves paying above his release clause, ie sizeable loan fee with option of purchase at the buyout clause/their valuation.

Edit: think I'm right in saying most fees spread over contract length too, so they wouldn't be any worse off.

Is the 2-loans rule applied across all English football then? I thought we could only have 2 Premier League loans but loans from other countries or divisions you could have more.

I thought the same but a look at the rules says it's any English club.

That’s correct but my point was that I think this means we intend to use a loan space for a striker and have plans for the rest of our budget in terms of upfront spend in outright purchases elsewhere.

Was hoping his name would re-emerge in "linked to Forest" talk.

I've no idea how we'd structure up with Brennan, Awoniyi , Lingard , Dennis (and possibly MGW) - much more learned fans than I could work that out- but he'd add some serious pace and skill to the lineup. And he's scored 10 goals in the most recent PL season, in a bottom side.

Not sure if there are still questions around him being an awkward character to deal with, but his onfield work looks bloody impressive.

I think Coops wants greater flexibility to switch formations on the fly. You need this in the EPL.

Does he normally have Dennis or Emmanuel as his chosen name on the back of his shirt?
Because if it's the latter - I'm going to be the first to make a comment along the lines of "Emmanuel 10?, I haven't even seen the ninth one yet..."
Thems were the days Congerz. 🤪

Saw the SSN report which talks about the stances of both Forest and Watford but says Forest are thinking of formalising their offer - who puts this info out there? Because, as Watford are on a different wavelength in terms of what they want and we haven’t formalised a bid, it doesn’t pay us to have this info in the open. If anything it benefits Watford who might now have more clubs join the race for Dennis’ signature.

Have I answered my own question?

Pretty much. Watford will be resigned to losing him so it makes sense for them to publicise his availability. Try to get a bidding war going to grab as much as possible.

Watford will only want to sell one of Sarr, Dennis or Joao Pedro. So whichever one goes first will mean the other two will be no-goers.
