Does anyone remember League 1 Derby County? (STILL the worst team in history!)

Takeover done yet? Didn't think so. Then they need to confirm a manager, who then needs to sort other coaches and a playing squad out.

The 5 contracted players they have are all above standard for League 1 but are now going to be complemented with a backfill of below average League 1 players. Isn't Bielik wanting out on loan too? I expect their agents are already trying to push a move and transfer money is tough for Derby to turn down right now.

Season can't start fast enough ;)

Leon Rosenior was appointed as interim manager, he'll have to make some if those decisions presumably.

According to Kieran Maguire, some players have bonuses due but they need to be in contact on last day of June. So 1st July could see more leaving.

Looked quality at times at the back end of last season. Only him and Festy over there that looked like great future prospects.

Taking the cash now on all these youngsters rather than having the sell on clauses could cost them millions in a few year's time.

No cash for either Ebsoele or Ebiowei apart from training compensation fees which are minimal (think about a month of Lawrence’s wages for both).

They won’t even go to tribunal for Ebiowei, as you have to have offered a contract first. As they weren’t able to offer any contracts, Palace have picked him up for bugger all.

Ebosele of course going abroad (cough, Watford) means they wouldn’t have been due a tribunal anyway. Just more of FIFA’s paltry compo fees….

If only there was an opportunity during say... January, for example, where they could have sold under contract players for more substantial fees?

Its gonna be a tricky start to the season 5 contracted players - don;t know if one is a keeper but assuming one is - that means there options are currently 1-1-2, 1-2-1 or 2-1-1...

Nope, they need a new keeper too.

Really don't see why any of them would want to stay.
New pitch ? Oh yes and there’re founder members of the football league 🤨

I think the takeover will happen by Wednesday (Clowes isn't a pisstaker like the fake sheikh, Alonso and Kirchner), but it'll be far from the end of their problems.

Barely any players (and the ones that are there will want to leave) and a transfer embargo is going to make next season incredibly difficult for them, and the HMRC will surely have a large say over their future too (a repayment plan that will severely limit their spending power for the foreseeable future perhaps?).

Simon Jordan is delusional, 28000 fans at Derby is his mantra

only way yer getting 28000 is if people are offered a season ticket as an alternative to a speed awareness course.

Or time off your life sentence if you go to games.

you’ll have a few going out of morbid curiosity then the crowds will drop quicker than CK can shout “you’re the man” to Nadal.

Derby rarely got above 25k last season (they only did so on four occasions; two of those were part of a 3 matches for the price of 2 promotion, one was a six pointer against Barnsley and once on the last game of the season). The away fans also contributed to those attendances; away followings in League One next season will be significantly smaller.

Utterly delusional to suggest Derby will average 28k next season. They'll do well to average above 20k, particularly when it becomes apparent that they won't be anywhere near the top 6.

I expect the 1st few games will be fairly full as the fans will just be happy they have a club - It won't last though what did we get down there? 14k ish?

Will prob get about the same after the novalty has worn off

I get the impression he's wealthy but not loaded enough to bankroll the club, maybe a bit like Doughty in that regard (most of ND's wealth was in DH and though he was rich, he rightly felt the club needed to run itself more than it did, he was a good owner in that respect).

He owns the ground so there's no real obstacles to that not becoming a problem for the club.

So there's just the whole point of the HMRC debt, debt to football creditors which is preventing them at present from leaving admin along with the fact they have no players and a transfer embargo restricting who they can bring in when they leave admin... and that there's a decent chance their other players will want to leave as well.

But I think he will be a good stop gap owner for them in the very least to try and steady the ship (they have basically nothing, so realistically the only way is improvement) - they do have a good chance once the debt is cleared off for being more financially stable than they've been in a long time.

It's probably good news for them if this does go through, but as you say, the beginning of the end of their problems, they will probably get relegated again but at least will be able to rebuild.

Our average attendance during our three seasons down there was about 20k.

I suspect Derby's will be lower than that if they aren't challenging for the top 6 or giving away tickets.
