Does anyone remember League 1 Derby County? (STILL the worst team in history!)

So.... and ignore me if i've missed the boat.

Somebody else just owns the stadium now that doens't own the club?
Yes, although tbf, he is trying to buy the club.

he’s played a blinder, paid for and owns the only asset, he can now play hardball with quantuma on the bid front, if it’s not accepted (good chance) he can say I tried and the only option left is phoenix club, Derby fans will blindly support him either way and turn their frustrations on the admins,

without bias why would anyone invest 75m to clear someone else's mess? When 25m gets the one thing of value, 50m down the drain for what? Good PR?

I still think liquidation cause no one is paying a 36m tax bill for anyone anytime soon

Clowes says a loan has been made so Direby can continue to trade.
I understood that the guarantee of funding demanded by the EFL specifically said that the funding could not be a repayable short term loan?
Maybe I got that wrong?

The EFL just need to see the money so they could complete the season, it doesn't matter when it has to be repayed.

The plan was for him to buy the stadium and rent to Kirchner. He did his bit but Kirchner pulled out. Neither Ashley and Appleby want to rent, they want to buy it.

His only option to avoid having a stadium with no club is to buy the club himself. I feel his initial good intentions are going to hit his pocket big time.

As a developer, he has another option: don't buy the club; don't rent the ground out to whoever buys the club; apply for change of use planning permission; convert stadium to Amazon warehouse. Job done.

So Derby who have borrowed themselves into crippling debt have now decided to borrow themselves further into crippling debt. The void beckons

That's what I thought, but his statement says they completed on 17th June - A week after the Kirchner deal collapsed.

I wonder if they were so far down the line with the stadium deal (I do not believe for one second a deal of that complexity took only a few days) that they felt they couldn't back out and were given assurances by Quantuma that some mug would buy Derby only for the EFL to take centre stage and they now find themselves with no choice but to buy the club?

None of the timings in this make sense to me, although to be fair, little of it does now. There is something not quite right about this whole saga but I can't for the life of me figure out what it is.

The only thing we can now be sure of is that Mel Morris has finally got rid of his stadium debt and has left his beloved football club to drown on it's own.

How can they get a loan when they are in so much debt? HMRC need to have a word.

They just don't seem to get it do they? This reminds me of the days of watching Star Soccer on a Sunday with my gran and continually have to explain offside to her.

offside ? It would have been much easier to explain then than now 😬

From the EFL Update today:

The League has already commenced the process in respect of its Owners and Directors’ Test, as well as an assessment of the ultimate source and sufficiency of funding to support the proposed business plan for the Club.

Still a few hurdles to jump then.

Never met my gran did you?

Nope, but I’m presuming any explanation would be answered with the question “why?”
