Derby v Forest

zigga-zagga

Here's my two pence worth.

Derby were up for the game much more than Forest in the first half. They were quicker and first to every loose ball. They had good pace up front.

I appreciate this was not our strongest line up but we were desperate up front. Lacking in invention, desire and ability. We cant and should not pin all our hopes on Tyson and Junior. Forest definitely need to bring in an experienced and proven goal scorer.

Our defence looked hesitant and sluggish. Breckin looked a bit of a lump.

Q: Were we beat by a Premiership outfit?

On paper "Yes" but in reality "Fu*king laughable". Yes they won, but they were the home team playing in front of 25k ish? and they had the referee on their team who obviously tried to impress the derby folk so he gets a good word and gets recommended for some Premiership games. He was a complete "Homer"  :wanker: :wanker: :wanker:

My claim to fame tonight was starting the "Wanker, Wanker" chant in the second half after derby fans did not stand when we say "Stand up if you Lv Cloughie". My 8 year old daughter was most impressed with her Dads display of passion.

So to conclude, derby will make farcical entertainment for the next 8 months as they get knocked from pillar to post around the Premiership before being ejaculated from the trap door come Spring.

Forest look a decent outfit for the third division, but a quality striker is a must if we are to gain automatic this time.

So there we have it, derby managed to win them selves a piece of silverware for the first time in 40 years? on their home pitch against a team two leagues below.

Tonight for me, was summed up when derby fans did not instantly stand up, when we sang "Stand up if you love Cloughie".

They cling on to some distant memory of a manager who brought them their one and only small notable piece of success 30/40 years ago and then left when they pushed him because they did not like his management style. Twa*ts  :D

So they have the small piece of self awarded silverware, but we have 17 years of memories of the greatest English Manager ever to grace the game.

Only one club has the right to call Cloughie OUR Manager.

U REDS!!!!!!!!!!

My God! I hate to say this but I agree with every bit of this post!

On another note did anyone else notice that is was Lennon who came to clap us at the end right away, as a captain should, and Breckin just couldn't be bothered to take his duties seriously as usual.

I certainly did.

Lennon also did a very good job covering at Moloney if he pushed forward, surely thats the job of a centre back, not a centre midfield.

Lennon and Moloney both have clear footballing brains, I just wish the rest of the team did.

It was very noticable on the radio the booing when Dobie was substituted. Also on Sky sports news they

said Lennon looked at times very frustrated at some of the moves by his team mates and actually approached

Calderwood a couple of times to question tactics. The
bloke unkindly said that Lennon must be in shock

playing this kind of game after what he had been used to.

Rich

I agree actually, ity must be a shock for Lennon to be playing with people who seem to have no understanding of the game.

I didn't see him question CC, but if he did then I'm glad, at least he cares about winning.

Last night went as expected a comfortable win for Derby, after going 2-0 up so early on it was game over.

It was a pretty poor performance on the whole with the exception of Moloney and Lennon.

If the likes of Agogo, Cohen, Tyson and Davies aren't fit for the start of the season than I fear we will struggle :(

Why was Commons taken off so early on?

From the OS

The visitors were forced into their first substitution after half an hour. Commons, who had been down for treatment to his right knee a few moments earlier, was withdrawn to be replaced by Felix Bastians.

I hope it isnt serious as Bastians is abit rubbish

that would be forest's luck. CC begs commons for months to sign a new contract, then when he does he gets injured for months against the sheep sh****rs

Rich

It didn't look serious, he played on for another 5-10 minutes, then when he came off he was right over the other side of the pitch and jogged over to the dugout rather than just go off and walk roun, which he woud have done if nijured.

I imagine he was taken off as a precaution

Anyway Last night ... Mcgugan annoyed me, he was spose to be playing right wing but he was never there I know he was playing out of position but it was leaving Moloney on his own - and as well as Moloney played last night he can't be a right winger and a good Right back with no support behind / infront of him.

I thought Lennon played well, I didn't really know what to expect from him though, obviously being an amzing player with an amazing history but im not sure if I expected him to be outstanding for every minute of the game or what

Redmond was alright in goal, not brilliant but it would have done him a world of good last night and he showed he has alot of potential.

As crap as we played last night D*rby are in the premiership for a reason and we are in league one ... as much as we all would have loved a win against them it wasn't going to happen with the squad we had available

So from last nights performances we can basically pick a team for the opening game of the season...

---------------------------Smith---------------------------------

Maloney-------------Wilson------Chambers------Lockwood

------------------McGugan----Lennon------Cohen---------

------------------Commons--- Davies------Sinclair---------

Subs

Roberts
Bennett
Morgan
Holt
Clingan

Lets face it, this result was always going to happen.

We had 2 players in that starting 11 who would probably get into our strongest side - Lennon and Commons.

Yesterday's team:

Roberts
Moloney Breckin Morgan Bennett
McGugan Clingan Lennon Commons
Holt Dobie

Our strongest team (my opinion of course):

Smith
Perch Chambers Wilson Lockwood
Davies Cohen Lennon Commons
Tyson Agogo

It's more likely to be

Smith
Perch-Wilson/Chambers-Breckin-Lockwood
Davies-Lennon-Clingan-Commons
Holt-hopefully new striker , if not forrest gump dobie

I have my doubts that Cohen will be matchfit since he did not participate in any pre-season games at all , he'll be eased into the team instead of being rushed , i imagine he'll play some reserve games first , put on the subs bench and used with 20 minutes to go. Clingan will most likely start the season with Lennon.
At the moment , Perch is probably in the poll position to be the regular right back since CC has already said so although Moloney's performance against derby might cause a rethink so who knows ?
As much as people dislike Dobie , he will still likely to start the new season unless CC can make a new strikers signing. Holt and Dobie doesn't seemed to work as a partnership though.

EmJay

Stuart Pearce
Smith
Chambers Wilson Breckin (c) Lockwood
Davies Clingan Lennon Commons
Dobie Holt

Roberts
Morgan
Moloney
Cohen
Agogo

That, in my opinion, will be the team against Bournemouth.

They never kicked out of 2nd gear in all honesty. I've seen them play last year a couple of times and they weren't really busting a gut. They were just too good and it really shows the gulf in the divisions if that was a good enough performance to grace league 1.

Anyone else thought we totally out sang them tonight?

It's often thought that when you're in the group that was singing, I'd imagine Derby fans felt the same. I suppose we'll never know, unless the opposition never sing at all ;D

I think Moloney did enough last night to put in a good shout for the right back position.

Especially as Perch came on and didn't really do anything.

Moloney may be lost in this team though, as I don't think the rest of them can keep up with his obvious footballing mind. (Except Lennon that is!)

Dunno where the placement of the commentary box was, but it sounded loud, and heard plenty of noise from both sets of fans.

Some of the Derby fans chanting I found distasteful, and highlighted why the whole idea of this friendly was patently absurd.

It's one game though , in other preseason games that Moloney has played in , the reviews were pretty mixed , some said he's a bit naive , too green , like a deer caught in headlights etc.

From where I was stood the chanting was equally matched.

I didn't hear anything too distasteful though.

There was the inevitable BC is Derby fan etc, but I thought on the whole the fans treat the occassion with adequate decorum.

I hate the idea of him being used in a tug-of-war for affections.. I only heard the Forest fans singing 'Stand up for Brian Clough' which is inclusive and awesome :)
