Derby v Forest

I got my ticket today. Just wondering how many people are going to this game. I'm really looking forward to it as it's been ages since and probably will be ages till the next time we play them. It will be a first time for me at Pride Park and hopefully it will be a great game and a fitting tribute to Cloughy. We have missed a game like this since we got relegated and now we have got it back again, I hope the Forest fans make the most of it. I really hope we sell out all our tickets and make a fantastic atmosphere and I strongly urge any fans who are unsure about going to get tickets and back your club, which has finally shown ambition in buying the right players. Now it is the fans turn to show their committment and I hope we will create an electric atmosphere. Does anyone know how many tickets we have sold to date?

Let's hope so! Things are looking up at the moment and I'm feeling really optimistic about the new season. I'm really hoping we sell out our end and create a buzzing atmosphere. We've been given 2,700 tickets initially. Surely we'll sell these and be given an extra allocation. I'm pretty sure we could sell at least 5,000 tickets for a game of this stature, which would be fantastic. How embarrasing would it be if we just brought 1,000 fans and they sold out?! Can't wait till this one  ;D

I dont think they will sell it out, i think they will be viewing this game as we are viewing the county one

Won't be going to this one,not really into friendlys and it won't be seem playing D*rby on this occasion when there two leagues ahead of us.As for playing them properly in 08/09 I can see them staying up but hopefully the gap will only be one league again come this time next year at the very least.

I'm not going, I have no desire to be there in person at the moment my preseason optimism is extinguished as we get annihilated by Direby :(

It's a friendly. It doesn't matter, no matter what pseudo-trophy they attach to it. I find the whole Brian Clough Trophy thing pretty distasteful to be honest.

It's more than a friendly though. We're playing our biggest rivals finally after a few seasons in League One where our biggest rivals were Chesterfield and Rotherham. We've waited a long time for this game and a Forest Derby match can never just be a 'friendly'. I'm also optimistic about the match. I think we will put up a good fight and it will be a tight game. TBH it's a win win scenario. If we go there and get beat, we can say we've had a good evening and won't feel depressed because the game has no consequence and afterall we are playing a Premiership team, but if we win we can say we had a great evening, earn the local bragging rights and say we beat a Premiership team. I for one am looking forward to this one.
On your point on the Brian Clough Trophy, I don't think it is distasteful. I actually think it is a good idea. The two teams he brought much success to playing each other in his honour is a good idea IMO. It keeps the memories alive and shows the appreciation and respect the two clubs hold for him.

i know what your sayin tom but it wont be the same as a competitive match between the two, i agree with winnits that the whole brian clough trophy isn't really the best way the legend should be remembered. but ill still be there singing my heart out

Tom go to the match and enjoy it, do not pour scorn on those who are not going, been to sheep pen both old and new several times's
seen some magnificent results, seen some games where you just want to slink away.

Been smacked around the head and done some smacking myself.......been there and done that, so you go and enjoy it. But it is a pointless match. I cannot see any reason to go.

Aye, I don't begrudge you your excitement Tom, indeed, I wish I shared it - I guess I'm too old and cynical now...

I'm not pouring scorn on those who are not going. I was only joking about fair weather supporters. Of course everyone perceives the game in a different way and everone has their own opinion on the matter. If people don't want to go then fair play to them, I am not trying to put them down. However, i disagree with you when you say you cannot see any reason to go. Fair enough it is not a competitive game but it is still Forest Derby afterall and it could be a long time before we play them again so I think we should make the most of this opportunity, for the banter with the opposition fans as much as anything.

I can see why you are not excited about this game. I know it is not a competitive game and you have probably been to Pride Park many a time, so a small friendly like this does not appeal to you. I'm just looking forward to it because I have never been to Pride Park to see us against Derby and because we have not played them in a while and may not play them again any time soon, and so am trying to make the most out of it. Don't get me wrong I'm not wetting my pants over this game, I am just looking forward to a good game of football and a good bit of banter...hopefully ;D

Im looking forward to the match because its against derby and its as close the players are going to come to a competitive situation before the new season so should be interesting how the players cope. Although should we lose 5-0 i wont really be that botherd, should we win 5-0 i would be pleased but i would know that it doesnt really mean anything.

Although it would be nice to parade a trophy on there own doorstep.

Well I'm just having football withdrawals and Forest V Derby away - even in a pointless friendly where we will get our arse's kicked is appealing. Mainly just because I'm hoping for a decent atmosphere :)

I am starting to look forward to this game.

I think we'll lose but it will be a close game and will hopefully get us in the mood for the upcoming season.
