I agree with @Harvey, this season is all just about having him here.

I watched a fair bit of him for Sheff U via net highlights, and obv spoke to the Sheff U lot about him, and he's a huge upgrade on Brice. Different class, which is what we need for the Prem.

Dunno if it's been posted already, but this is a cool vid of some of his moments...

In terms of agility he undoubtedly is, but being a keeper is also about consistency (something Samba struggled with), relationship with the defence, gathering difficult balls to relieve pressure, personality, reading the game and launching attacks - areas Samba often excelled at.

I haven't seen enough of Henderson to know how he'd do in that regard.

I'm not usually in favour of short-termism but in our case the short term is crucial. It's all about surviving that first season in the PL. So, while we'd all obviously prefer an option to buy Henderson, just having a keeper of his quality for the season would be invaluable to us.

Well we obviously tried for one. For me it's too much of an easy deal to pass up on even without a clause. We have the GK position sorted going into pre-season then which could have been an awkward situation.

The worst that can happen is he performs really well and we can't afford him - but him performing really well would probably mean we stay up.

Just a shame we're probably gonna be sat here next summer in the same situation with Henderson as we are now with Spence but c'est la vie. He is an excellent player and a coup either way.
Hopefully if we stay up, we'll have much less work to do in the transfer window next summer anyway so can focus on getting a top notch permanent replacement.

For now, Henderson will be a very good and vital addition.

Pickford earned a £30m move to Everton after playing for Sunderland the season they were relegated. Not sure Henderson performing well will be enough to keep us up, but it's certainly a start.

A positive would be freeing up some cash to spend on other areas this season. Not sure what the loan fee would be, maybe £2m?

I doubt the club thought they would be looking for a GK this pre-season anyway.

It's all about mid-table...

Or win the league?

Still need another Keeper because if Samba and Horvath move on if expected we will need to play someone else in the two games vs MU and in the event DH gets injured or suspended.

Imagine Jordan Smith in there.

Haven't seen any rumours about Horvath leaving, but I'd imagine if he does we'd sign another keeper. Zero chance of Smith being 2nd choice next season.

Well there was a thing a couple weeks ago which suggested he wanted to play either here or somewhere else so he had WC chances.

And though I don't think (Boro game under Hughton aside) he's really let us down, I don't think he's good enough for the PL really either.

if he wants ANY SORT OF SHOT at being in Qatar with the USA, he needs to be a starter somewhere. can’t play second fiddle all his life.

just had a clanger in the nations league, didn’t look good for his reputation.

still love him tho.

I work with a Sheff Utd fan. They had Henderson on loan their first season in the Prem, he reckons the drop off in standard to Ramsdale who they had in goal the second season was one of the biggest factors in their relegation.

Deano could well be the difference between staying and getting relegated. He's that good. You don't turn down the chance of a loan like that.

Even without the option- we've then got 12 months for our expert recruitment team to identify another keeper or agree a price with United.
With an additioanl £120m as well if we stay up because of him.

Newly-promoted Premier League club Forest will have an option to buy one-cap England international Henderson for £20million at the end of the loan.

Fantastic news if true.

Unfortunately it's from the mail, so very slim chance of it being true.
Oh I don’t know; everyone does the Daily Heil a disservice; remember back in the 1930s, they repeatedly said what a nice chap Germany’s new Chancellor was…

It wouldn't suprise me if Man Utd just say they don't have one even if they do, just to stop their fans from moaning. Although they'll probably find something else to moan about.
