Comparible players in fbref: #2 Matz Sels.

No idea how stats translate for keepers, my takeaway is he's good at goal kicks!

Bog roll

Viv Anderson
Jota out, new winger in, ending up with 4 quality wingers. Very plausible.
Exactly. If we follow the quote of like for like cover, it’s very plausible

The final hours of this transfer window on the 1st of September?????? are going to be mental for us

This is not going to go the way of the last January transfer window when we didn't sign anyone of note

EM is all over this

No prisoners

Not sure how we can just keep splashing £30m on players. Unless EM knows something the rest of us don’t.

It’s ok saying we’ll sell MGW/Murillo at the end of the season to offset, but what if they get injured or have a dramatic drop in form. We’d be shitting ourselves in June and probably having to flog some of our shiny new toys off cheap.

We managed to offload Mangala and Niakhate - two squad players at best - for a ridiculous amount... E1.2 in the end, or something like that?

I don't imagine decent young players like McAtee, Hutchinson and perhaps Bakwa will lose too much value over the space of a year, even if they aren't regulars. The quality of the squad we're assembling means even our second string will have buyers across Europe.

Honestly some of the figures being pushed out about our spending ability was closer to £150m

With the sale of Elanga, Danilo etc i'm sure it pushed it closer to £300m

So we will still be okay under PSR for this season even if we spend another £100m

We've got plenty of saleable assets now though - take your pick from about 12.

Incidentally I think Anderson is fast becoming our most valuable...

Looks a good profile for the backup role in that he is experienced and has played lots of games in Spanish top flight.

Not massively impressed by his youtube videos though. Pats a lot back out into danger and seems keen on a flashy "TV save". Ideally I would like Sels' backup to be a similar mould to Matz - unflashy, solid and reliable.

Think I prefer the Livakovic link. I would go for Ricardo Velho myself - good age and was one of the best keepers in Portugal last year where he captained Farense. He even got a Portugal callup. Farense got relegated so he shouldn't cost too much and I imagine we could quadruple his current wages and he would still be our lowest earner.
