The simple option is he takes Boly’s place in the squad - I think it’s pointless trying to sign another CB with Murillo, Milenkovic & Morato already at the club.

He has European experience which will be a bonus for us. In that Oly v Fiorentina final him & Milenkovic were the best players.

Interesting that we seem to hold interest in the lad from Liverpool - not sure he gets a game with us unless Murillo is off, but that's what the player will want.

With Carmo I suspect he will come in for a closer look preseason, and a decision is made then. Assume Omobamidele is off?

Edit: as for Boly it seems likely he'll leave, though part of me thinks Nuno might offer an extension as a trusted type in a fixture congested season. Depends on fitness I guess.

I honestly don’t see the point in spending money on another CB, I think we are set for that position.

Not a bad shout. I've been thinking we need another one in the squad with Boly likely to leave but I forgot we had this chap on the books.

If Boly, Omo and Toff are off, with Reading guy and maybe Abbot going on loan, it leaves us light. We'll need at least one, potentially more if big bids come in...

I don't see Murillo leaving. Realistically, who is going to spend £80 - £100m on a centre back? Only a few clubs can afford that. Liverpool need a long term successor to van Dijk, so maybe Quansah comes as part exchange? Still don't see them shelling out massive money on a defender. Other than that you're looking at Chelsea, Madrid?

According to the Greek press, he will join Forest for pre-season, hoping to convince Nuno that he should stay.
It'll be interesting to see what we do with the defence this summer. For me it looks like we're recruiting for a 3-man defence system. With Jair Cunha probably signing and Boly getting a year there will be plenty of options.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Morato head out the door. I wouldn't be hugely upset by that either to be honest.

Leicester are still very much interested in signing him on loan.
They might be interested - but right now they're not in any position to bring in players, even on loan. So someone will beat them to it.

Leicester have a bankrupt owner, a problematic wage bill, no manager, and a potential points deduction. The only players they're going to bring in are ones they can get on the cheap.

Do you think he's up to the PL? Perhaps as a back up option should we get rid of Morato?
I don't believe Carmo, or Stamenic (or Morato either for that matter) are good enough for the PL, even as back up.
All 3 are cart-horse slow, and all 3 seem to lack positional awareness.
A positionally aware player can get by without pace.
A player lacking both is never going to be good enough.
I offer you Willy Boly as supporting evidence.
No pace, but he acute positional sense.

I know it's only pre-season but he hasn't looked anywhere near it for me. Not even as good as Morato, let alone Murillo.

If there's a chance to get 10m or so into the club, get him gone. Sorry David.

I don't think we have seen any of Carmo in his natural position to make that call. We probably don't need him though, so off he goes by the looks of it.

Marato has also proven very useful in a three allowing us to see out games. Jury's out in a two admittedly, but well soon find out...

Marato did OK coming on late, as you rightly point out.
However, he gets caught in possession regularly, struggles to control the ball when it is passed to him, and always looks like he panics when defending, and I am surprised he doesn't concede more dangerous free kickcs, even penalties.
