Dan Assane Ndoye

‘Injured’
If that’s your criticism of him then that’s fair enough, but the fact is he hasn’t played any significant minutes in the PL since 15th March when he came on at half time against Fulham, helped change the game, and scored what looked like the winning goal until VAR intervened. He didn’t finish the season poorly as the post I was replying to claimed because he didn’t finish the season at all. He’s been “injured”. If you think his injuries aren’t entirely genuine you might well be right, I’m not disputing it.

If it was the last couple of games I think you’d have a point but I just can’t see anyone wanting to go to the World Cup basically not play for 2.5 months…that seems incredibly risky to be ploy
I think it would be a risk for certain nations but I think if you're Swiss and 'playing' in a top league then you're basically guaranteed a place in the squad assuming you're fit enough to put one foot in front of the other.

I'm surprised they haven't wheeled out Shaqiri for one last go to be honest.

Have the feeling that however much talent Ndoye may have he simply isn't the type of player that will adapt to the tempo and intensity of
Premier. League football.

Agree.

He's not particularly fast, or tricky. He keeps the ball reasonably well and makes decent off the ball runs but he's supposed to be a winger. He contributes almost nothing from a provider POV.

The off the ball running makes him better suited to be a striker, or wide forward (in a Thomas Muller type role) - but, he's a bit weedy and with the lack of pace as well means 6'4+ CBs just bully him out the game.

For me he's a player that would have looked pretty good in the mid 2000's when 442 was still a thing, where he could play out wide and do his off the ball stuff because he's got a static defender behind him and 2 strikers who'll do majority of running in higher areas.

Ndoye hasn't got malaria as an excuse.
Coming from Italy too which is surely less of a jump to the Premier League than Dutch football.

Just seeing news of us sending Lucca back has given me a thought. If we'd just had Ndoye on loan and had the option of signing him for circa £30-35m this summer would anyone be wanting us to on here? Of course not so if the option is there to get most or all of our money back I say we take it.

I understand what people are saying, that we need to give time players to bed in, but there is a limit to how many players we can nurture and wait around for.

NDoye, Bakwa, McAtee all cost a fortune and didn't contribute enough last season. We can't wait around for all three to come good. It ties up money that could be used for different areas of the squad. The other concern is that without European competition there is limited opportunities for them all to play.

Perhaps our problem is that we tried to do too much at the same time. Or that we didn't sign a proven PL player to compliment Ndoye etc.

In isolation I think NDoye could come good, but I fully expect one of him or Bakwa to move on.

My favourite player is Nigel Clough, because he was brilliant without looking like he was. He wasn't the tallest, or the fastest, or the trickiest, or the strongest. But he could just play football really well. In those days we had a team of players like that, Gary Crosby, Parker, Hodge. Players who could pass and move and pass and move all day long.

I like Ndoye because he's that kind of player. But he's a bit short in the 'brilliant at football' part, which is something of a problem.

I honestly don’t think a professional player has decided to protect himself for a World Cup for that long. Even if the risk of not being picked is minimised they aren’t going to be match fit. To fool the medical staff for that long as well just wouldn’t add up.

Might not rate him but that’s proper tin foil hat in my opinion.

I don't know why we seem to do this with players sometimes. I've seen it with Bakwa and Kalimuendo most recently, now we're doing it with Ndoye. I'm sure there is a player there, but Ndoye has had 37 opportunities to showcase what he can do for Nottingham Forest and more often than not, he has failed to do so.

Ndoye wasn't like us signing Sosa or Jota Silva where you think, either they will end up doing the business or they'll be at Olympiacos or Rio Ave next season. He cost a lot of money and it took a while to get the deal done.

I assume we're looking to build again and go for Europe. In that case, we're going to need better players and we can't afford to have players like Ndoye putting in half a shift. I hope he has a good World Cup and one of the Italian teams give us our money back on him.

For me, I feel the same way about him as I do Remo Freuler. He's good for the Swiss, ran the show in Italy but he looks without a paddle in the Premierleague.

Not really a sensible strategy to attract bids to get himself a move back to Italy/wherever else either.

Does he need more time and there's a player there or is he too lightweight for the Premier league.

Do we risk another season and see his value decrease even further? I'd say if we can get around £30m, take it.

There's no way we're getting £30m for him.

We might get £20m, which we should probably take if we do. We'll have to net off a £7m FFP loss but we'd be doing that anyway if we kept him here another season.

Other option is loaning him out this season for a few million - which we might need to do every season for the remainder of his contract here if we go down that route.

Just watching the big match between Switzerland and Australia. Luvly finish from Ndoye, although I think even I could get space behind Australia's defence....
