why the f*** would you buy County?

A very cheap option to front their money laundering/tax dodging/illegal activities?

Anyway, I think I can hear Joshmeowd furiously fapping at this news.

Also, does this takeover mean the Arabs will get the whole of the Jimmy Sirrel stand?

Has to be. There's no other good reason.

Does this mean the sad pies can afford to put the wheel back on their barrow? Maybe they can diamond encrust the barrow while they're at it and wheel Westcar in on it for kick off?

Maybe it was lost in translation and they thought they were getting the County of Notts, to be redeveloped into a palm-tree style development a la Dubai.

Joshmeowd will be buzzing right now I suspect :D How long until he's on here saying how they are gonna be better than us in three years time? lol

Maybe there's oil under Lego Lane?

Or they could redevelop the ground into a 50,000 seater ground capable of holding the world cup, enabling us to see the games without having to leave our ground.

Sky Sports have a lot more. They're saying its a done deal, and the people involved are from Nottingham, not Arabs.

OK, all joking aside and with my non-biased business hat on, there's a few things I'd be worried about if I were a Notts fan.

1. 'Munto Finance' is an 'acquisition vehicle' created specifically for this transaction. Why? Well in business circles, creating a new company is usually a way of hiding the dodgy dealings of the organistions or individuals involved with it.

2. Two members of the consortuium have already joined the Notts board, to 'assist' in the process. By 'assist' read 'force the deal through at all costs'.

3. Peter Trembling doesn't exactly have a great record in his previous roles at Everton or HSBC.

Too right. Hopefully this lot won't turn out to be another Scardino (or worse).

If all of a sudden they have a load of money, I know just the Chief Executive to help them spend it wisley keep hold of it.

Not strictly true.

It's a way for amalgamation of various enterprises, and allows for people with differing financial levels to buy/own a definite percentage.

Forming a new company also insulates your pre-existent companies from any liabilities that may arise through the new venture.

Well...you have to remember I'm coming at this from the point of view of someone whose major responsibility is to ensure I protect my own company from any undue risk. Therefore the first thing I always see is any possible dodginess rather than legitimate structures and such-like.

That reminds me of an Economics Lecture while I was at University. The lecturer was droning on about globalisation and manufacturing in the UK...

"Who can name me one of the biggest powers in motoring and engineering in the East Midlands? Big factory built within the last ten years?"

To which I piped up:

"Mowerworld."

The answer was actually Toyota.....

Good luck to them I say, and to be honest I hope it works for them. The attraction is obviously having the oldest club in the world as well as being able to buy it on the cheap.

It will take years before they settle and get themselves back up the leagues, however we have the history given to us by messr's Taylor and Clough. Something that can never be taken away and will never be bettered....

Whilst I'll always treat these sorts of takeovers with a massive amount of scepticism due to them playing a large part in wrecking English football, as a Notts fan I think I'd probably be doing an Irish jig right now.

They've been flirting with administration, bankruptcy and oblivion for a good few years now and with gates at an all time low County could do with pretty much anything to give their club a shot in the arm.

It will be very interesting indeed to be able to watch things unfold from the tranquility of our championship armchairs over the Trent, whilst also hoping that they do start to do well and we could have a real derby in the city again perhaps.

It's funny seeing some of the suspect responses upon hearing news that County are to be bought out by a Middle East consortium. From that snippet, people have assumed that the buyers must be Arabs, and thus laundering dirty and/or oil money.

In fact, Trembling's interests are in Israel. He's also one of Randy Lerner's closest friends (and former VP) and helped to facilitate the purchase of Villa from Doug Ellis. He's obviously seen the fun that Lerner is having and decided that he wants a smaller slice of the same pie.

Pretty bad news for us, all in all. I imagine that the club will be run sensibly with a decent amount of capital injected.

I have often wondered why not invest in a club with the ability to grow and emerge, whilst not having to throw shedfulls of money to start the ball rolling. This I feel is an interesting move......No players on huge long term contracts, no players on huge wages.

They are basically buying a blank sheet of paper, with the facilities in place...i.e a football league place, a ground which despite our mocking is suitable for a club to reach the CCC.

Forget any ideas of bull dozing the ground etc, that's why those former fester directors bought into Notts. One of them is an absolute crooked bastard, head of a wealthy crooked bastard family. Yes I do know and despise them. So pleased they failed at both fester and Notts.

County are far better off without them.
