Could we lose our identity?

Spot on. Like you I sit in the LBC Stand and the people that sit around me have done for so for years....there's been one or two changes (poor Tim Hillier from Newark who sat next to me for 20 odd years passed away 5 years ago and would have loved us being back in the Premier League) but we have a good bunch who support Forest to the hilt. We were all impressed with our new signings especially Williams, Henderson, Mangala, O'Brien, Toffolo, Awoniyi, Niakhate........the City Ground with our fans gives our Club an edge & an identity. Steve Cooper is a genius as far as I'm concerned, he turned our Club around and is getting a new team to gel. Obviously Dane Murphy was key in getting him here. Has anybody got a photo of the BC Stand from yesterday.....I've no idea what the display was.

We've had stadiums proposed in multiple places: Clifton, Gamston, East Side and I think there was talk briefly of acquiring the Imperial Tobacco site just off the ring road.

East side would have been palatable if we really did need to move. Decent city centre location, but I think that boat has sailed now (believe Tesco acquired the rights to the site and plan to put a big store there).

The proposed Tesco store died a death about 10 years ago, and doesn't look like being resurrected.

Parts of the site might still be available, but the available unused space has been diminished as they're currently building a large residential + retail complex (called "The Island Quarter") which probably rules out putting a stadium there.

It obviously won’t happen now (the owners are committed to the City Ground)-but I seem to recall the
ludicrous World Cup bid (a waste of time and money in my opinion) involved a new stadium in that area.
There were two options for a „World Cup“ stadium - Clifton and Gamston.

We did have an "identity" but it was the fans, not the players and coaches who kept it alive. Cooper (and the rest) have picked that up, just look how glowing they are about the fans, I know all players say similar but it feels genuine, rather than cliche.

Having less games is already really noticeable for me, and this will help. Championship can be two or even three games a week at times. Cooper is now getting a full week between games to work with players and therefore more time devoted to coaching and getting his ideas across, and formulating identity with the new lads.

Depends what you mean by "identity". If we want to stay up change was inevitable, and that included bringing in plenty of new players. And let's face it---what was the true identity of teh team last year? McKenna and Worrall were key, and they are still there. Djed, Garner, Zincks, Davies were all loanees and one could argue the first two were our best two players. Brice wanted out. A big change was inevitable, and part of that is recognizing that a fair amount of our players would not be able to transition to the Prem. There is no point in going up to just drop back down.

Just look at the difference between the Newcastle and West Ham games; it's clear that the extra week on the training ground helped enormously IMO.

Good to know I'm keeping up with the times!

If "losing our identity" means no longer being seen as a mid table championship / also ran then it may not be a bad thing.

I prefer to think of us as a fat middle aged dad, whos finally decided to sort his life out, get in shape and push on

Something i should aspire to

Agree with a lot of what has been said already,

It's just the nature of football, if you think back to last season,

All these lads came in and were massive for team spirit, from October to January they went from nothing to some of the best team spirit and connectedness to the fans i've seen,

Social media for all the flack it gets, its great to see the players interacting with eachother on it, Toffolo, Lingard, Yates, Niakhate, Neco the list goes on, they all looked buzzing after the final whistle and I could really see a sense of togetherness, 2 games in and feeling far more connected with this side than i've been with most of the sides in the past 10 years and I honestly think that all comes from the manager instilling the culture of togetherness at the club

Our best performances last season all came after a break.

The more time Cooper is given on the training pitch the better we will become.

I posted this on the premier league thread. If you want some nostalgia, watch that Arsenal series All or Nothing on Amazon Prime and go straight to episode 5.

We were under the radar then and I bet Tottenham had never heard of Djed Spence before that game.
