Re: Copa America 2019

My memory of Bolivia at that World Cup (slightly hazy as most of it was through the alcohol haze of the Student Union bar) was that their best player came on as a sub in the 1st game, was promptly harshly sent off and suspended for the next 2 games. And was also never seen again.
Marco 'The Devil' Etcheverry, I think he was called. Had a mullet. Remember him. They gave him the big build up on TV.

Uruguay v Japan on now.

Diego Godin has been the best centre-half in Europe over the last few years. What a warrior. :aggresive:

Apparently Suarez also tried to get Jara in trouble for tripping the pitch invader! Man knows no shame

Looking forward to the knock-out phase.

Brazil v Paraguay tonight. Perfect kick-off time for me - 1:30am. I should be well boozed up by then.

I don't think Brazil will find it easy against the Paraguayans, despite being priced at 1/6. You can get 20/1 on Paraguay.

Brazil 0-0 Paraguay (Brazil 4-3 pens)
Argentina 2-0 Venezuela
Colombia 0-0 Chile (Chile 5-4 pens)
Uruguay - Peru later today

Venezuela and Paraguay lost but both are on the up. Colombia going out was a surprise, especially the way they handled Argentina in the group stage.

Peru 3-0 Chile
This might be the end for this generation of Chileans who won this tournament twice. Peru played very well. Down 3-0, Chile were awarded a penalty at 90+4'. Vargas tried a panenka and the keeper was not fooled. Saved it. Vargas could have gone joint top scorer for the tournament.

Peru move on to the final Sunday at the Maracana against Brazil. Chile will play Argentina in the 3rd place match.

Re: Copa America 2019

Who tries a paneka when they're three-nil down in injury time?

That's just asking for your entire country to take to the internet and explain why they hate you.

Argentina v Chile now. Would be more of a fitting final than Brazil v Peru.
