Davies was insane.

I‘m not sure it’s fair to Davros to bracket him with that lunatic!
And I'm not sure it's fair to bracket Davies as a genius, other than his work at Derby in creating the worst team in history.

I've not watched any of the new Dr Who's, think last one I watched was Sylvester McCoy as a kid, but I thought the new ones looked OK.

What makes them so wank?

I've watched a lot of the more recent series' as my youngest is a big fan, but for me they're not a patch with what I grew up with. They all seem rather preachy, like their primary purpose is to teach a moral lesson rather than just, you know, just have a few adventures. Particularly since Jodie Whittaker has been in the Tardis.

That's not to say old DW didn't have its moments of moral import (who can forget the classic scene where the Doctor has the opportunity to wipe out the Daleks at their creation but ultimately declines to believing he does not have the right) but they weren't done quite as on-the-nose as they are these days. I remember one episode I watched recently was literally based around the moment Rosa Parks refused to leave her seat on the bus in 50s USA, which I thought was a bit odd for a sci-fi show.

Although to be fair I started watching it when Tom Baker was the Doctor, and if ever a man were born to play a role it's Tom Baker and the Doctor.

My ex flatmate watches it and he had it on once when I came home from football or something, so it was on in the background while I was eating my dinner.

I didn’t know it was Dr Who at first (never watched it) and had to ask him what this crap he had on was. Crap acting, crap writing, crap story - it looked like a low budget school play.

Anyway, as it went on, I couldn’t believe how woke and preachy the story was. Literally shoving all this moral stuff down the viewers’ throats with all the subtlety of a sledge hammer.

I thought Dr Who was some camp geezer running about having adventures against robots that look like dustbin cans?

More non-entertaining crap from the BBC as usual. There was nothing remotely funny about it either, so I’m surprised it’s not part of BBC’s “comedy” offering.

Best thing about Hughton's tenure is Billy Davies head on a darlek on an online forum.

Nice one Chris.

The more we get results, the angrier I get about his tenure.. particularly this season.

What a f***ing waste of time he was. We might have actually achieved something (still could) if he’d been sacked a month or two before.

The Athletic piece this morning is another painful reminder of what it was like under him and the positive outlook moving forward.

Just look at his entire demeanor during his time here, never really looked like he wanted to be here stood on the sideline with a face like a slapped arse looking bored and uninterested. Whether we won lost or drew he never showed expression either positive or negative. Never acknowledged the fans and clearly had an awkward relationship with the players

Now compare that with Cooper who's animated, always smiling and genuinely buzzing to be working with the club. The players seem to have taken to him like a fly on shit and its good to see a manager putting his arm around the lads and letting them know they've done the team proud. Sending them off to get their praise from the fans and also coming over to show his appreciation to the supporters with his notorious fist pumps. Might not seem like much but those are small things that get everyone on board and pulling in the same direction, along with the results of course

tl:dr f***ing love Cooper I do

Agree with this, Coopers appetite for this looks palpable, compare that with Hughtons body language seemed to go hand in hand with his football, which is probably where he lost the players, fans & any chance of building something here.

I don't think the club handled the appointment that well, but then don't think Hughton managed it well either.

An infectious, innovative manager is whats required here & we have that now.

Have u got link to that article Bryan. Can’t believe an experienced manager can get it so hopelessly wrong and not think and reflect on how to change it.

Christie's a good example of a player who we would have reluctantly accepted before Murphs bought Spence & Lowe here.

Shows just how low the bar had dropped after years of the previous setup.

There were fans that wanted forest to sign Christie like how some fans wanted forest to retain Sammy 'because he is unplayable on his day'.Luckily common sense prevailed.
