Ghana sack Chris Hughton after AFCON nightmare with damning three-sentence statement

All hail the mighty Lard. 🫡

Also, when I bumped this thread I had to chuckle at the fact that the infamous Porks was such a huge fan of his lol, remember Porks was playing this card when we were sat comfortably in the top 6 ....

If <<<<<<<<Davies went I would like hughton. I have always rated Hughton higher then Davies and I think he will be a realistic alternative in the future.

Having been a coach and asst manager for 15 years before going onto be a manager for the last 5 years he has acquired a reputation as an excellent coach, a gentleman and a very good manager.

Hughtons managerial career started amidst chaos at Newcastle. Relegated following a season which saw Keegan, kinnear and shearer in charge at different points, protest marches, the departure of key players such as Owen, viduka, duff, martins etc. hughton was brought in as a caretaker with Ashley publicly looking to sell and therefore not willing to appoint a permanent manager.

Hughton quietly went about moulding the squad minus the summer departures into a well organized committed unit, adding only a few free transfers (before being backed in jean with them top). Hughton went on to win back to back manager of the month awards and went on to have an unbeaten home record for the season and won 30 drew 12 lost only 4 games winning promotion in record time. This was the season which saw the breakthrough of Carroll who went on to score 19 goals.

The pressure of that job as a first job was immense 'poisoned chalice' doesn't begin to describe it. He had a good squad yes, Nolan, coloccini, Enrique, Barton but so did wba and us that season and he did it in pure style.

Got them up 12th in December....sacked. Newcastle wanted a more experienced manager they got pardew...carroll was sold a month later for 30 million.

Hughton then went to Birmingham where he walked into a media storm again with the owner being arrested for money laundering and question marks being asked about the finances Dann, Jerome, Phillips, Johnson, larsson etc all left, leaving hughton to cobble together a team who also competed in the Europa league. His team finished fourth losing in the play offs to Blackpool. Hughton brought through Redmond and butland in this season.

Norwich poached hughton at the end of the season having lost lambert to villa, hughton overcame the second season syndrome finished an excellent 11th with a reasonably modest investment. This season he has had a lot of money to spend and has struggled.

Overall I think he's a thoroughly decent guy with a very good record who wouldn't f*** around with media vendettas or different formations and line ups every week. He goes about his business in the right way, coaches, organizes, brings young players through and gets results often in difficult circumstances and would put out a team who represent the club in the way it should be.

1pt in 21 available in the Championship, with some of THE direst football witnessed at the CG. Good times
