I dont know if you watched Brazil vs Morocco but, based on what I saw, I'd say they are considerably better than Belgium. African teams often get woefully underrated.
Mostly because they don't tend to do well in a World Cup. They have AFCON more frequently than say the Euros which gives the top teams more opportunity to stack up wins against other countries which are weaker and which skews the rankings. In Europe most of the matches are NL or UEFA qualifiers (for Euros or WCs) and there's fewer friendlies these days in general so there are always anomalies which come out of the rankings because of who teams are playing.

The other thing with Morocco in general is that they won AFCON by a default - they are recorded as winning a match they lost which led to a trophy win. If the onfield result had been reflected in the ranking calculator then they would be lower down. But I suppose at the same time reaching the final they have probably beaten (or beaten teams who have beaten) teams considered more as favourites than them,

Every time there's performances in the group stage which give a false impression. We had the Brazil v Morocco game, and Spain v Cape Verde, and quite a few other examples where a team would be expected to win quite easily but drew or lost. That's just the nature of football. Morocco are not as good as Brazil because they drew with them. A good well-organised "lesser" side will park the bus and make the opposition work for the win, the same way we played under Cooper and Nuno in the PL. The onus is on the better side to break the opposition down and if they don't do that then the lesser team can sneak a good result. Last time Saudi Arabia beat Argentina in the group stage and then Argentina went on to win the tournament.

If we look back at the best African performances at the last four WCs:
2022 - Morocco 3rd place, Senegal 1st knockout phase
2018 - no African side made the knockouts
2014 - Algeria and Nigeria made the knockouts
2010 - Ghana QFs

Morocco were excellent in the last WC (3rd) and 'won' the AfCoN- don't know what more they can do to 'earn' their #7 ranking.

Been to Morocco half-a-dozen times (haggled a Morocco-shirt in the Marrakesh souks shortly after the last World Cup). Moroccans are really excellent folk too: it's a much more liberal (gender equality laws) and stable state than most of the Arab nations. They'll be my second team this WC.

Not to mention that the Moroccan premier league has the most insanely passionate fans in the world. Check out some of the YouTube clips - the rivalry and mental atmosphere make Celtic v Rangers look like Woody's New Zealand vs Vanuatu.....

Wood is getting glazed up to the high moon on social media right now, everyone’s loving him.

Basically calling him the quintessential no 9.

Who would’ve thought this would be our lives after dealing with Chris o’grady and Djamal Abdoun’s butt buddy from Olympiacos. Tbf tho that Chris o’grady game against QPR(A) was f***ing lobos.

He can put his feet up now, he will have a role next season but we must acquire an additional quality Striker to our squad
Yep, there's no chance at his age and with his injuries that we can rely on him week in week out. We saw last season just how much we struggled when Jesus was there on his own (not helped by Dyche mind).

I would be remiss to write him off, when he's had a rest and a proper pre-season again.
He didn't really get enough chance to shake off the rust towards the end of the season, and New Zealand had some tough games. To be fair, he also got himself a couple assists during that.

We should be looking for options, obviously but I'd still back him most weeks.

Comparisons to me with Wilson at West Ham (only in style). They tried lots of options and even tried to get rid, but when they needed a goal it always seemed to be him that would come on and bag one late on. Might not be as mobile or involved as is fashionable but they know where the net is. Super valuable
