Would be happy with this, but I still don't see why Southampton would want to sell to either us or Leeds. It'd be like us selling a decent player to someone like Everton or Fulham; the sort of deal that would almost certainly come back to haunt you.

I can’t believe he’s only 25!

If he scores 10 for us he’d be worth at least £20m next summer.

9 goals then 7 goals in the last couple of seasons for a struggling Southampton side, so he's not been far off hitting those figures over the last couple of seasons.

Surprised so many people are turning their noses up at the (incredibly unlikely) prospect of signing him, he's a good player.

He is a good player - I've fancied him for us for some time now and think I'm right in saying we've tried for him at least once before. Didn't he make his mark at Ilkeston Town before hitting the big time? I like that in a player.

He indeed used to play for Ilson before being signed by Sheffield United.

Pearce wanted him when he played for Ilkeston, I believe he had a deal lined up costing 30 odd grand, when Fawaz found out he pulled the plug as he thought signing a non league player was stupid.

That worked out well.

Fawaz also refused to pay a few million for Harry Maguire when he played for Hull.

Think we went fir him on loan from Southampton more recently too, but then he went on one of his streaks.

Yeah and he's got plenty of assists too. Goal or assist every 187 mins the Prem is good going.

Also refused to pay £3m for Callum Wilson that summer too. Three Premier League players that Pearce could have signed for us for just over £5m.

Fawaz really was an absolute f***ing clown.

Add them to Antonio, Britt, Lascelles, Darlow etc and we would of been a very good side and probably wouldn’t of fell off to spot quite as dramatically as we did

Pearce's recruitment was excellent, a shame he wasn't given proper backing. It all went wrong which Hobbs, Cohen and Reid all got injured and we had no real quality to adequately replace them.

Not saying for certain that Stuart would have been a success had he been allowed to recruit the players he wanted and didn't have those injuries, but he wasn't half dealt a shit hand here.

That's true but he's written it as if he's got the inside scoop.

"according to my sources", when he really means "according to Twitter".

Adams i'm personally not convinced by however it would be another option up front with Premier league experience so that in itself is a plus. I would like to see Davies here to but not sure what his injury record is like , oh what the hell sign them both ! lol

Thats the worry for me, sign players with injury records pay all that money and get a handful of games , rather pointless if you ask me but then this is football and football and its mentality is pretty shocking no other business would act this way
