From the OS - Sounds like he could be going to 4-4-2...

Back To A Four?
Fri 03 Oct 2008
Colin Calderwood is poised to revert to a flat back four for tomorrow's Championship encounter with Crystal Palace at The City Ground.

While the Nottingham Forest manager ponders whether or not to recall Robert Earnshaw after a two-match lay-off with a hamstring injury, he is already thought to have decided to go with a defensive quartet rather than three central defenders.

That, however, will leave him with a selection poser with no fewer than four players - Kelvin Wilson, Ian Breckin, Wes Morgan and Joel Lynch - vying for the two central defensive spots.

Morgan is available again after missing Tuesday's 1-0 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday through suspension, while Lynch produced a promising debut display at Hillsborough after joining Forest on loan from Brighton.

Calderwood has selection issues elsewhere, having relegated Guy Moussi and Lee Martin to the bench in midweek.

A final decision is not expected to be made regarding Earnshaw's availability until shortly before kick-off tomorrow.

Flat back four, yes. 4-4-2, I doubt it.

Exactly. Just means he will play 4 at the back instead of 3(5).
Still expect 4-3-3 tomorrow.

CC under a heap of pressure , you can only blame it on luck so many times before it wears thin. Losing is simply not an option.

Can you blame him for going with just Cole up front if Earnshaw isn't fit? Tyson is completely out of his depth up here.

Not necessary , tyson pace still scares defenders. With Cole seemingly getting better with each game , i think cole can play some through passes for tyson to run onto. He needs players alongside him who can do a bit of running because we do not have any players who cole can feed off to and thus , he needs to be the one who is going to feed other players.

To have just cole upfront , we will be toothless as cole isn't going to run a lot and we have nobody in midfield intelligent enough to play off cole.

How is this a shock decision?

We should have remained with a back 4 anyway and he knows it.

yes, but only in the few cases when he's standing upright and not fallen on the ground.

any news on whether it is 4-3-3 today? or 4-4-2? or another formation?

Change fallen to knocked over/dragged down/kicked and you'd be closer.

I could be wrong but I understand we started 4-4-3 and then went to 4-4-2 when Cole was subbed in for Thornhill.
