(BUPA) John Ruddy

According to Talksport we're signing Ruddy.

Assuming here then that Horvath is going as he wants first team football.

Ruddy is a decent enough back up.

Ruddy would be a decent back up option, much better than Hovarth, and really good if we can get him on a free whilst selling Hovarth for a fee.

I wouldn't neccessarily agree with that but I don't see Horvath wanting to warm the bench for a 2nd successive year so Ruddy would be a decent realistic option to replace him.

Ruddy is much better than Horvath.

Now if we can get fees for both Horvath and Samba, and get in Ruddy for nothing and Henderson on loan, we've upgraded both keepers (a position which wasn't a weakness) for a profit (aside for wages).

Would be a ruddy good deal

Horvath is a US international and didn't put a foot wrong when he came in for Samba after the Stoke game. Ruddy has barely played for the best part of a decade so I think much better is an unfair statement on Ethan.

To be fair he’s a safe pair of hands that will come in as backup.

You are not gonna get a regular that is capable of playing to a decent level as backup.

If Wolves trust him we should too, they have an elite level defence and GK.

He can also play next year if we go down.
Hence Horvath wanting to go due to his age and world cup.

A backup GK is a difficult task to recruit for as not many good young players will happily want to never play

Ruddy is an England international (one cap, but they still count). At Norwich he played for 7 seasons mainly as first choice, 4 in the PL, before going to Wolves, winning promotion as their first choice, when they decided to get other players so he remained as backup.

I agree Horvath (aside from the spell under Hughton where no-one played well) has not let us down, but, he has never been first choice here, nor was he at previous clubs.

They are both a definite upgrade on what we have.

Yeah even the really big boys have this type of older player as gk back up. Scott Carson at city, Lee Grant at utd
