Got to know your own worth in life, shouldn't accept less just because someone says you're worth less

Again in this scenario I'm humouring the media talk, but if he feels he's worth more

The guy who just won promotion in a legendary display where everyone at the ground and online and his teammates treated him like a hero probably doesn't look at a guy who had a good season 2 years ago as "out of his league" lol

He never looked Prem class to me tbh. I think he's a good Champ keeper, but I also think upgrading makes sense.

Just my opinion, but if Murphs have targeted Henderson I think it's fair to say they may be thinking we need to upgrade too.

A few penalty heroics doesn't change that. Samba and/or his agent seem to have got carried away by them. Doesn't mean the club should.

That's part of my point though, it doesn't matter what you or I think, if he believes he is good enough then good for him. All employees in any industry should do exactly the same where they can. It's when companies and managers convince you that you're worth next to nothing or you get in a position where you simply can't afford to leave a job that you end up with situations like our country is in. Football is one of the few industries where the guys doing the grunt work get a fair piece of the pie and tbh I applaud them for it.

(I currently have covid so not sure what I am saying is making sense or relevant, but sod it haha)

To be fair as vital and as entertaining as Samba's penalty heroics were you can't base your first choice keeper in the Premier League on them.

If Dane and Coops think they need to bring in better and have identified a legitimate target who they think is an improvement then I trust that.

It's just unfortunate that Brice had to air this all on social media.

Has Samba actually said anything on social media?

And I actually meant those two saves, and the fact he was our only calm player, meaning he was taking the ball off the outfield players who looked overwhelmed, slowing down sheff utd attacks, and then taking pressure off with good kicks even if it just won us throw-ins etc

The penalties overshadowed everything, but there were 10 panicked men out there and Samba did way more than save some penalties. How many other keepers in that atmosphere would be asking for the ball 20-30 yards out and taking command not of his area, but that third of the pitch

Take out that side and we'd have lost, because yes he made 2 amazing saves, but without making himself available for the ball we'd have just kept giving it away time and time again and eventually that pressure would have been too much

Anyone who looks back at that performance as just being about the shoot-out maybe isn't even in a position to judge who is a better keeper out of Henderson and Samba because you obviously aren't looking hard enough lol

It may have gone like this -

Forest - "Here's your new contract, Brice."

Brice - "That's less than I was expecting. We're in the PL now."

Forest - "Well, that's what we're offering you. Fancy it?"

Brice - "I could get more in France, I'm not signing that. PL keepers are on more than that. You're not respecting my value, I may as well go elsewhere."

Forest - "Well actually we feel we need to improve the keeper situation. We're looking to bring in a Man Utd keeper on loan for the season, and we'll be paying all his wages. So your contract is pretty good for a stand-in keeper..."

Brice (thinking that he can earn more sat on the bench at a PL club than as a starter in France, and if we get relegated he'd probably be our keeper in the Championship) - "Okay, fair enough, where do I sign?"

I get some points of this, but it comes across as a bit of a condescending post imo.

Not personally but his brother has and his agent was on to the media before the last bit of ticker tape fell down on market square. So one and the same really.

Samba himself has clearly realised what a PR mistake he's made and has been on charm offensive on his own social media, wearing Forest training tops as he trains in France with Moussi.

My take on it from what I've seen, nothing but educated guesses and conjecture really.

Samba was offered a new deal by Forest which he considered to be lower than he expected now he's a Premier league player and whilst he's stock was higher than ever.

He gets his brother and agent to go online and moan about lack of respect (money) and threaten to leave expecting Forest fans to go mad and thereby pressure the club into improving terms.

The club (Cooper) hasn't really forgotten the Stoke red card and is quite happy to upgrade the keeper anyway and calls Samba's bluff, by courting first Pope and then Henderson.

Samba now realises he's made a big error and starts posting pictures on twitter with his Forest top on with Moussi. So even if he leaves it looks like he's always loved the club and it was down to Forest that he's left.

I don’t blame Samba at all he’s got to make sure he’s sorted for his family. I also don’t think Forest should cave into any demands if they don’t fee it right. 2 parties that have 2 different takes ok things that’s life.

Me personally knowing how many players we need outfield I would have tried to keep Samba so we could allocate funds elsewhere. However long term look to replace him definetly.

Forest now need (after Henderson and Awoyini)
3 wing backs
2 centre midfielders
1 attacking midfielder maybe 2
1 striker
1 defender maybe 2

So that’s 8 players we deffo need and maybe going to 10.

I am not known as a Samba fan boy as well but even I can see we could have kept samba for one season at least whilst we address other areas.

I asked before but I thought it was confirmed that wasn't actually his brother? Or did that change? And don't think a guy who hasn't played for us in 10 years posting a brief video on his own social media is charm offensive lol

Football is so funny there days lol

if samba is really going to lens , can forest do a trade for their players , they have some decent midfielders , eg Doucouré , Fofana and lb Facundo Medina

I agree, I think his agent watched a bit too much Jerry Maguire - if this was done behind closed doors I've no doubt he would have a new deal but the outspoken bit has done him over.

Who says he wants a new deal as a number two?

I have more respect for the players who want to play week in and week out. The players who decide to do something about it and may even take a pay cut to do what they love. Samba feeds off the fans' energy, he's not going to be happy sitting on the bench. We saw how he was during the closed doors games.

He probably feels that he can earn a decent wage at Lens and do what he loves doing, shithousing in front of a good crowd, and the "Blood and Golds" get a decent crowd.

Who said he was going to be second choice?

I never saw any reports saying that Forest were interested in signing another keeper until after it was revealed he wanted away. All those reports came out afterwards and I suspect that once Brice had made his mind up that he wanted to leave Dane and Coops just didn't waste any time looking around for his replacement.

€5m fee apparently, seems like a decent amount considering the situation.
Personally would have wanted double that.

A good PL goalkeeper is going to cost five times that and we're going to have to make that move at some point.

Admittedly if that money pays for Henderson loan and he helps keep us up then it's worth it as its another £120m we can bank with a better reputation to go with said replacement.

How much did Brice cost, under 2m? One of the best signings for Forest in the last 20 years.

If this is the end, thanks for the memories, you have written your name large in Forest's history and will forever be thought of fondly in years to come. Those saves against Sheff U, the stuff of legends.
