Brice Lauriche Samba - „Magic Hands“

Re: Brice Samba

I would hope that, even if we sack Lamouchi at some point due to it not working out, we replace him with a manager who will continue to play football in the same way, ie - utilising the players we already have rather than adopting a new style. So Brice could be first choice next season once Muric goes back to City.

Surely we have learnt our lessons by now. This is the concern and hopefully.it no longer will be.

Re: Brice Samba

Good. Steele is going. Smith still has a lot to learn. Presumably Pantilimon will be off.

I thought we were kind of obligated to have Muric as first choice. The Samba kid looks Spritely alright, but why would he come as no 2?

Re: Brice Samba

Kind of been half expecting us to sign another keeper (as Pantilimon was never going to stay as 2nd choice, plus Lamouchi's preference for keepers with good distribution), so not a huge surprise we are trying to get another really IMO. Seems like this chap has done well in a poor side and is a decent age too, so a decent addition on paper.

Re: Brice Samba

That's fine but we need to be offloading at least one of Steele or Pants before bringing in anyone else if Lamouchi doesn't believe they're up to it

Our squad's bloated enough as it is without having five keepers on the books

I don't subscribe to that idea personally.

If we're in a financial quandary, yes.

But if we're not and we see someone better who we want, we should do it. There's a lot of players out of contract in the summer. I'm not overly concerned about the situation.

I hope so too, to be fair apart from the 6 month rush job in MON they have pretty much been the same.

I am so glad we have moved to the model we have this summer, I am certain it's going to benefit us long term.

Admire Sabri for always looking for better - we need two top players in every position. Be brutal and find a pig farm for the rest - or send to Burton Albion, same difference.

On paper it might be, but they'll be farmed off to train elsewhere anyway...so f*** em.
Why should we care about players who are either A: at the end of their career B: Never really played much first team football at any club anyway C: know they've pulled a cheeky by getting a contract at a big club and should be playing in League 2 anyway.

I think it's also clear that the financial bloat will be minimal even if we can't find a home for the likes off Clough / Murphy / CumPuppy etc etc etc.

Seduced they say.

From our academy, Shelvey is the nearest to a sweeper keeper we have from what I've seen. Would he be ready to be 3rd choice, possibly 2nd choice next season.
Despite Muric and Samba being young for keepers anyway, Shelvey is likely to learn alot more with those around than Pantillimon and Steele you'd expect ?

Re: Brice Samba

I really hope Sab knows that Steele and Pants will leave, rather than can leave. I'd hate to think our bloated squad with have 4 keepers with only one recognised centre forward!!

Managing is just real life Champ Man. Agent, 'do you want to buy him?'. Me, 'don't think we need him, but yeah what the heck!'

Just my guess, but I'd suggest that the people responsible for the club's finances will have the final say in any transfer activity?

Taylor webchat:

They are looking to sign another keeper...

... but told their primary target is not the name being banded around most loudly at the minute.

Believe Brice Samba is very much on their list - but he might not be right at the top of it.

Hopefully will be able to make the name of their primary target public in the near future...

Re: Brice Samba

Ever tried telling your misses, 'we don't need to buy that...' ??!

The era of Cloughie persuading Ken Smales to arrange the signing of a player before informing the committee, let alone obtaining its approval before agreeing any fee, is long gone.

Thank God he’s going!
