A genuine question with no ill intentions.
Is there a time limit? Can it run for years or is it down to the discretion of the creator?

If you look at Zoe's first post she said it would run for 14 days. (Creator's discretion I think.)

Edit: Details are here - https://help.justgiving.com/hc/en-us/articles/204606811-Can-I-extend-my-Crowdfunding-page-

Basically, the minimum is 30 days, the default 120 days and the maximum 1 year. The fund manager can set it within the limits above.

As above. The 14 days is the verification period after I have got an account to payout to (missed a call off the bank while at work yesterday frustratingly, and was a generic number with recorded msg when I called back, going into branch in Nottm today to try and sort).

So if anyone's waiting for payday, plenty of time!

Well the escrow account isn't an option it seems. My bank, Virgin, don't do it, Barclays looked at me as if I had 4 heads, HSBC checked but no, NatWest realised what it was actually for lol,.and we had quite a chat about the fundraiser, and do one but it require various solicitors letters and deeds of trust and Co op Bank don't offer it.

If the taxman wouldn't come after me, I'd say throw it into my business account. :p

Yeah I've got other accounts but wanted to do it all absolutely 100% by the book, and I do have 2 business accounts also but all a big no no. JG are being spectacularly unhelpful insisting it has to go into an account in my name and no other,.not even the charity. Just hitting brick walls. What I've just done is opened another personal basic account and I'll have to use that one. It's a clean slate account in effect that I can use without any other transactions to show an audit trail

That was the only other way I could suggest without getting into questions about potential money laundering and the like.

Yeah, I'm going to look into commercial escrow this afternoon, just on train home, but not sure of cost or how it works. I get a small UC award each month so.I need to contact them next........

Can just giving not pay the hospice direct? Surely they would have some experience in taking large donations. Might be worth ringing the hospice.

Because we didn't have a charity number to begin, no and they won't budge on that unfortunately. The JG account is in my name so cash has to go to an acct in my name. I'm in contact with the hospice and they're being as helpful as poss but also hitting a brick wall. JG are being very rigid.

The only other option is a.clubs and society acct which would require me and a hospice rep to be signatories and takes weeks to set up.

I feel like I've gone round in circles a bit today haha, and certainly done my 10k steps round the banks in Nottm

Could you contact the club? Surely they'd be happy to pass it on?

Pffft club wouldn't even retweet!

But the issue is that JG are absolutely firm on that cos the JG is my account, the bank account has to be also, they're refusing point blank to transfer direct to the charity even though both me and the charity agree that's ok. It's causing.me alot of headache today

Digital banks, like Starling or Monzo are very easy to set up, and can be done in a few hours online.
Yes, thanks, the problem being I already have accounts there so it wouldn't be a clean trail iyswim. I've setup a completely new account today with a totally new bank, HSBC. If I can't find a commercial escrow service that I can use that will have to be the one I use, it's totally new, totally seperate from.any of.my other accounts and I can show £0-£16k.or whatever the amount is, then back to £0 as it goes out to the charity

Also, if you haven’t already done so Zoe, you might want to give HMRC a quick bell - they might be able to offer tips on escrow service for charitable giving, as well as maybe other advice on anything you need to document.

Thanks, good idea. It'll have to be tomorrow now cos I need to navigate UC next and hope I get someone who knows what they're talking about cos I do.know there is a charity exemption so they don't class it as me depriving myself of assets when moving cash.

I have all the SM and JG stuff as a paper trail. Need to update Martin House also today, and Def won't be transferring any cash anywhere for at least 14 days as JG need to verify everything so it gives me chance to put all my ducks in a row

You really don't deserve this stress after doing such a wonderful thing. Hope you get it sorted as easily as possible.
