Arnaud Kalimuendo-Muinga

Let's hope so, but even if it didn't the shortfall will be small change in Premier League terms and an acceptable loss on a player the club clearly doesn't see a future in
Also, assuming the sale goes through before PSR becomes SCR, it's £23m into this year's balance whereas the fee we paid for him is amortised over the length of his contract.

The remaining amortisation gets booked on sale so it doesn't really matter if it's before or after the end of June as there will be little or no profit involved. It will just free up some amortisation to get a replacement in on a similar fee or lower.

Forest never gave this kid a chance. Disappointing, this is Forest's fail. Kid signs for a Nuno team to quickly be in freaking Ange team, to which devolves into Dyche and then Vitor. How can we expect any newcomer to adjust to the hardest most physical league in the world with that chaos inside the club? What a year, just such an organizational failure overcome by extraordinary effort by the squad.

Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

I’m sure any of us, however good at our line of work, have taken a job with an employer that is not our “cup of tea”.
I certainly did, and the only thing to do for one’s sanity is to get away, promising oneself to choose the next employer after more thorough due diligence.

This was just incredibly disappointing all round. Never felt like he got a fair shot and, as others have said, could definitely see a place for him in VP's setup.

Ship appears to be sailing over the horizon though.

Frankfurt still in talks with Forest over Kalimuendo according to BILD.
They want to pay £17.2m instead of the £23.2m buy option.

Depends whether Vitor thinks he can get a tune out of him. 17m is pretty low bar, even if he got 7 or 8 goals next season as a 2nd/3rd striking option.

We are not going to give players away. One of Wood or Awoniyi is likely to leave, bring in a starter and with Jesus, MGW, and 2 of Kalimuendo, Wood or Awoniyi, we should have enough options.

We should be telling them to f*** off then.

Even 23.2m is a book loss on the amortised value, albeit a fairly nominal one. I know PSR is no longer a thing, but it's still relevant under SCR. We definitely shouldn't be taking an extra 5m hit on top of that unless we get to the end of the transfer window and nobody else is in for him.

Wood isn't leaving.

“One of Wood or Awoniyi is likely to leave”.

Please give your head a wobble: we’ve got more chance of catching leprosy than Chris Wood leaving this Summer.

He's got an injury which he has to manage for the rest of his career. Can he still be relied upon to get 12 plus a season? He's looked a shadow of his former self since being back.

Don't be so myopic in your outlook. Yes he will probably stay but any goals will be a bonus in my book and not expectation.

I would be bringing in a first choice, which leaves 2 of the current 3 to fight out or for 2nd/3rd option.

I’m certainly not myopic: all the reports from the Athletic state that Wood is seen as a key player by the club at present.

If circumstances change, and the injury worsens, the view on Wood may change.

However, stating that Wood is likely to leave is very myopic.

I mean, that's surely the reason he's near certain to stay here for the final year of his contract. Nobody* will pay a fee for him, and even if he's available on a free transfer nobody* will come close to matching his current wages.

He may not be first choice next season, but realistically he'll still be at Forest and the only scenario under which he moves on is if a retirement league comes calling with a crazy offer, or if he's so far down the pecking order that Forest are happy to let him go out on loan and cover half his wages.

*nobody in a competitive league at least. Saudi, MLS, and Aus/NZ could be exceptions though even then I'm not sure they're chucking silly money around in the way they were.

Our play improved as soon as Wood returned. Yes he's got a chronic knee injury. But he's a proven Premier League striker who adds more than just goals. There's no way they're letting him go anywhere unless something really bad happens at the World Cup.

Lot of things can happen in the next 3 months. The world Cup might throw up a few new leads.

We really need a top striker, cannot rely on MGW to have another season like this one. Jesus isn't a no 9. The target no doubt will be Europa again. Can't see that happening with the current forward options.

I think we need to find goals from wide areas, our strikers are okay in my opinion - only upgrade if we think we have found better. I would be fine with our current batch.
