Ao Tanaka

It looks like Ao Tanaka is open to leaving Leeds this summer. I think he’s a solid player, and if Leeds are willing to accept around £8 million, Forest should seriously consider it.

He’s already proven himself in England, which reduces the risk compared to spending big on another overseas signing who may struggle to adapt, something we’ve seen happen with a few of our recruits this season.

At that price, he could represent very good value, especially as his market value could rise further if he has a strong World Cup.

The Leeds fans seem to like him too and don't want him to leave.

Can't see his name without singing the electrical supplier advert "A, O, let's go". Gonna have to pass on that alone

Not a Ramones fan, Notcher? The Macc Lads version of blitzkrieg bop is my favourite, eh up let's sup. I do hate it when adverts bastardise a classic
Not heard anything from them mate. I was going to listen at one point and then a load of pretentious twats who probably had as much clue about them as me all started wearing Ramones T-shirts and it put me off.

Now it's died down I might go back and have a listen. Any suggestions where is a good place to start or any classics or theirs?

Cheers fellas. I'll have a listen to some of that tonight whilst I'm prepping some work for tomorrow. Always happy to expand my musical horizons. Over the last decade I've dipped into genres I never thought I'd listen to and found some stuff I really like. It's given me a really eclectic mix and a greater musical library.

I've got a mate who quite literally only ever listens to Def Leppard and I can't get my head around how he isn't bored with listening to the same songs over and over again. It does my head in when you listen to commercial radio for a couple of days and by the 7th song it loops back around to the first one.

Literally the only song I've heard in the past two weeks is Golden from the Kpop demon hunters theme, courtesy of my 5 year old.
I feel your pain. My youngest is into them too and I've heard that song a billion times. I've set her up her own Spotify account because it's infiltrated my algorithm.

One of the greatest bands of all time for me, got to see them at an obviously over capacity Rock City, late eighties, early nineties, can’t remember exactly. It was absolute mayhem.

To be fair most of their songs were less than two minutes long so you could get a very good idea of them if you have a spare half-hour or so. They were very good at what they did but don’t go into this expecting a Beatles-like evolution of their sound throughout their career!

The Beatles reference is intentional as they reportedly were huge fans and took their name from Ram On (or from Paul McCartney’s occasional pseudonym Paul, I forget which) even though they emerged from the punk / new wave scene.

This thread must win some kind of LTLF award for the fastest to go off topic in living memory. Notcher arrives with the first reply to get us on to music and by the next we are off into a wonderland. This thread will never be about a Japanese footballer ever again.

For me, 2 minutes is 2 minutes too long.
Wasn’t their first gig the one where they only knew a few songs, played them so fast the show later only 20 minutes. The crowd weren’t happy so the band repeated the set then ran away.

I don’t know about them in that much detail but in their defence I would say that a lot of early Beatles songs were around two minutes and the gigs at the height of Beatlemania tended to be about half an hour. That said, there’s slightly more musical progression over the Beatles’ career than the Ramones’…

Hard to say based on that game v ManUre.
Let's face it Arter and Shelvey would have looked good against that Man U side.

I didn't realise they had been around that long, let alone played Rock City

Been around since 1974, widely accepted as one of if not the first punk band, although bands such as The New York Dolls and The Stooges who were formed much earlier could also lay claim. Just checked and it was 1986 they played Rock city.
