Heffing Psycho!

Steve Chettle
6'4, 23 year old German CM currently of Mainz.

Seems to be in the print edition of the Daily Mail (found on Sky Sports' paper round up), also links Jimmy Garner and William Carvalho (seems a bit more unlikely given his age):

I felt we were still a bit light in CM and given the situation with Yates injury I can see the plausibility in the links

Capped German international, 23 years old and has 3 years left on his contract plus we just nicked their captain a couple of weeks ago so I'm thinking it'll be more towards £20m than £2m.

I thought he may have played with Awoniyi - which may have been handy - but no, arrived at Mainz after Taiwo had left for Union.

We're clearly backing in Syrianos to pick the eyes out of the Bundesliga talent.

I am going to have to put in for overtime, at this rate!

23, big, mobile, likes a tackle, played 29 times for Mainz in the top flight last season, scoring one, and providing six assists (and 30 times in the 2. Bundesliga for Fürth before that, with a single goal). He only joined them last summer, but became an immediate hit, excelling in Bo Svensson‘s high-energy pressing game.

Proper defensive midfielder, but he won’t come cheap, as he’s got another two years left on his deal.

Sounds like he'd be a good fit and add some real steel to our midfield.

An Endo type player to give Mangala the role he has(d) at Stuttgart?

Yes, very much so.

VfB play a slightly more fluid Formation than Mainz, but the defensive-midfield role is key in both.

Just to make Vrankcx feel better I'm gonna say no thanks to this one too haha!

Same reasons, although I understand he'd probably just be back-up to Yates or vie for a place with him, and if we did end up with McAtee on loan or something we'd (for the present time) have added an AM without spending on a transfer fee so then it makes spending on a DM a different proposition. But yeah, I don't think all tall players are incapable of being skillful (I'm 6"2 myself so wouldn't so that haha, not to mention Collymore was 6"3 which is nearly as tall as this guy), but I certainly would think we could be a bit lacking in both balls skills and ability to turn if we ended up with Stach and Yates on the pitch at the same time or something (and only Lingard and two forwards ahead of them).

I'd honestly say closer to the £2m than £20m would seem right though anyway, albeit only seeing the video of those highlights from one game.

We're not getting anyone from the Bundesliga for £2m that's done as well as Strummer reports
