Assuming Sels doesn't make a recovery in time for Fenerbahçe, then Gunn will indeed get time and we won't have cover, other than the youth teamers.
Depends how long he is out for. Ortega could come in as an injury replacement if necessary but it would put Sels out of a potential last 16 tie if we did that.

I would give him a chance over Ortega , who didn't look match fit or sharp to me against Leeds, but because he came from a big club , he'll expect to play more .
Surely it makes more sense to get the higher calibre keeper fit and match sharp than the lesser calibre one. Presumably Gunn isn’t match sharp either.

I wasn’t exactly bowled over by ortega but he did join late (which was an excuse for not playing the new left back), he isn’t match sharp as you say, and also he didn’t come in to a settled defence. If he’d had Murillo and Williams and 3 games under his belt and still looked rocky then that is another thing.

Gunn looked far more composed against 11 men, even when we were down to 10 against Crystal Palace. His kicking was solid and he looked fit. Having been with the squad longer, he seems more settled than Ortega, so after that display I expected him to get the nod against Leeds.

It’s also a matter of opinion whether Ortega is the higher calibre keeper he hardly featured last season, while Gunn was playing regularly and is a Scottish international, so he’s far from just an academy backup.

I’ve heard he’s eager to play too, and could look for a move next season if the chances don’t come..

Even Matt Turner would have looked composed against that bizarrely inept Palace attacking effort, where they somehow managed to look worse than when they had parity.

Nah, Matt Turner would have scuffed a kick and gifted their forwards an opportunity . He never looked composed with us .

You could be right about Ortega, it is hard to tell. I don't know much about his career, other than his spell at City. I don't think Norwich fans were that arsed about Gunn going though were they? Someone at the club clearly has doubts though, I couldn't believe he didn't play in the dead rubber European game.

I know he hasn't played much but as a third choice keeper he's better than Turner and Vlach, both of whom someone who'd clearly spent a week on acid thought could be first choice keepers

I'd keep him around, but it depends how much he wants to be playing regularly, which he won't do here
