Fulham were linked a few weeks back and the fee touted was £16m.
He wouldn't be coming here to be backup. All very strange.

Particularly as it sounds like there wouldn't be much difference between what we'd need to pay to sign Moreno and what Cornet's release clause is.
Moreno may well be a very good player, but paying an 8 figure fee for him when Richards and Toffolo are already on the books (assuming the former is fit and the latter signs) would be spectacularly bad and needless business. There must be an issue with one of either Richards or Toffolo, otherwise this deal would be ridiculous.

Seems a wild one. I would hope this doesn't mean we have to go lower budget elsewhere though; it's a lot of dough for one position when you combine the two fees (or three!).

That's my worry too. Moreno would not be cheap, and if it impacts our budget for strengthening midfield, signing a quality replacement for Zincs and bringing in another striker, then it is a very poor move IMO.

Very different players. Cornet has played CAM before and would be the the prefect upgrade for Zink whereas this guy's a LB who has occasionally played at LW.
You don't shell out £16m to play a player out of position.

Yeah for me this is all about the effect on budget. I will say is Richards is injured fair enough, Moreno is excellent and makes sense at a crucial position.
If he isn’t though, I don’t like us using 15m if it takes that away from midfield. 15m is the difference between MGW and Aguibou Camara

See that people are speculating that its maybe to play more advanced but Cornet is younger and a similair price.
Can't help but wonder where this fits in, imagine Toffolo and Richards (Even if injured) would not be delighted to join knowing that a more experienced guy is being signed at the same time.
