Richards has a broken leg and no pre season. He clearly is talented for Bayern to take a punt but he really only has experience at championship level and hasn’t played a great deal in the last year so I think it’s sensible to allow him time to get fit and adjust.

Simply put Forest don’t have that luxury so it was important we brought a dynamic wing back in

So when Richards is back, Toff is 3rd choice? How shithoused are Huddersfield fans feeling right now? 😬😁

I have a feeling that we didn't really want Toffolo all that much, but accepted him as back up left back as he was needed to get a deal for O'Brien (the one we really wanted from Huddersfield) over the line. Wouldn't be surprised to see him shipped out once Richards is fit again.

I think Toffolo will next season either be loaned out (if we avoid relegation) or a starter (if we don't avoid relegation).

Why on earth would we not want Toffolo.
Just a gut feeling. If the club were backing him, we'd probably be getting a cheaper option (and perhaps more short term, like a loan) than Moreno and letting Toffolo stake a claim IMO. I think going out and spending this kind of money on another LWB shows a lack of faith from the club in Toffolo.

Absolutely crucial we get more from our wingbacks. Williams was underwhelming going forward on Saturday.
I think you can tell he’s a good footballer though. He can deliver a cross. Would rather have him in corners than BJ.

I just think we are really missing Djed’s pace. Obviously have no pace down the other side either!

Djed could get you from defense to the final third nearly every time he got the ball. With Brennan ahead of him it was ideal. Neco has a better final ball but isn't a marauding LB like Djed.

Zink nearly always took it from a defender or midfielder and ran towards the box. We're missing both hugely judging on yesterday.

Coops will get it right. But it will take time. And patience.

The wingbacks couldn't really get up the pitch as the ball wasn't sticking up top and midfielders were swarmed every time they got it so the wingbacks couldn't push on and receive a pass anyway.

We were pinned back for virtually the entire game so I wouldn't really make my mind up on any player based on that. The whole team suffered.

Only problem is if the Newcastle game is anything to go by we'll rarely get the ball out of our own half much less get it in a position for someone to cross.

If I were Dane and Coops I'd prioritise an experienced PL defensive midfielder, otherwise our attack simply won't be in the game.

Most teams in the Premier League aren't as good as Newcastle.

Lots of folk panicking as though we'd just been dicked by Southampton or Leeds. This was the team with the best record since January after Manchester City and Liverpool.

What did you expect?

He did put one quality ball in for Surridge, having skipped past his man.

I'm not being overly critical but there's a large onus on our wingbacks to push back the opposition. Without quick transitions and a threat from both sides we are f**ked.

Really early days and he definitely looks a good player, more rounded than Spence but we will miss the pace.

No-one can say how good Newcastle (or any other team) are in terms of the wider league after one game.

All we can say is they were better than us on their home turf.
I think you know which teams are most likely to be good.

By your questioning I suppose you think everyone is considered equal?

You are right but in turn the wingbacks only get their forward licence from the CM which has to have parity and grip. Without that the wing backs aren’t really in the attacking game

I think the plan was that the Spence replacement came on the left side with Richards.
