Thompson is the 17 year old NI LW signed in the summer. Initially playing for the U18s he’s been promoted to the U21s.

That’s 3 goals in 2 games for Berry.

Sinclair and Whitehall we both know from EL games (where they were on the bench).

Looks a promising bunch of players. Obviously EPL is a big step up…but there should be some good careers made 👍🏼

Departure from the academy as Adam Berry moves to Saudi Pro League side Al Khalood for an undisclosed fee. Expect him to pop up in Spain at Cadiz if that move doesn't work, as the clubs are owned by the same guy.

He's done well this season (Berry), but we no doubt think the younger NI winger (Thompson) is the better prospect at 17.

Berry (20) was picked up on a free from Man U so it's a good return whatever the fee is.

They have both played around 20 games worth of minutes but Thompson's (8G 6A) returns are better than Berry's (5G 1A).

Kalum Thompson will be very good, in fact, the Northern Irish contingent in the U21s/U18s are all decent

The Academy lads are probably quite glad they were playing the same night as the first team...quietly slipping a 6-1 defeat to Sunderland under the radar...
Sunderlands academy is shit hot though, its been Cat 1 for a few seasons, and is the sort of one that we should emulate..

Little update of things..

4150 consecutive Forest first team squads with an academy/youth setup graduate in. That goes back to the early 1940s.

Also, Ryan Yates made his 300th career appearance coming on against Fulham. 231 of those for Forest,

Another update..
U23/B team centre back, Justin Hanks has travelled with the squad to Denmark for tomorrow. Hes a Welsh agegroup international (up to U18).

It is a fantastic achievement for Forest to be able to include a youth player in every single squad since, well, Adolf was in his pomp.

Even Der Führer can celebrate this!

Its a bit of pride, that even through the shit times, we've managed it. Still think seeing one of our youngsters making his first senior start in an FA Cup Semi Final is one of the better moments in the last couple of seasons.

When I lived in Nottingham (and worked in the city) I used to be able to fiddle my calendar on occasion to go and watch the youth teams play at the Academy (they used to put on a great bacon cob), and I fondly remember watching a few lads from those sides develop and break into the Forest team - possibly the best one I saw at youth level who "made it" was a young lad called Jamaal Lascelles.

Can't think what happened to him!

(Incidentally, he was often partnered in that youth team by another young lad called Karlton Watson, who I actually thought looked a better prospect, but Karlton suffered some absolutely rotten luck with injuries, and his career probably suffered because of that).

still here...
I remember seeing an academy game at Wilford Lane featuring a young Jermaine Jenas. I say young like I’m not the exact same age as him.

Karlton broke his leg and did his knee in the space of about 8 months. Took his best asset, which was his pace..

Can remember watching a match a few years back against Leeds U21s, and a young midfielder called Kalvin Phillips was quite anonymous for Leeds that day, strangely, the midfielder on the Forest side, a young lad called Yates, really gave him a work out...

2 Academy players starting, and another 4 on the bench, in a big European tie.. Even though only 2 played, its fantastic to see.

Just seen on instagram that a young lad called Azae Bonnick made his debut for our under 18s just two weeks after his 15th birthday. Has played for England u15s too so seems a good prospect.

Good that we have some talent coming through, but also mental that you have instagram accounts hyping up literal children.

There's also a long way to go with even lads of 14/15 in terms of senior progression let alone first team level now we're in the PL.

Plenty of hype over Dekel and Mighten at a similar age, similar age to Johnson as well, but they didn't get anywhere really even though Johnson is a PL regular with 2 significant transfer fees (so he has clearly made it). And there's always Ollie Burke and that other lad who was a bit of a battering ram up front a few years before them, again a few teams have spent quite a lot on Ollie but he hasn't really done a lot anywhere.

It would be nice to see some attacking talents make it into the first team but it's a long way off really. This lad has even a year until he does GCSEs. Not every 15 year old is Max Dowman.
