Don't know how reliable this guy is.

Netherlands U21 & Sparta midfielder, 6 goals in the Eredivise last year. 9 assists the year before that.

He played alongside some top players for the U21s in the Euros this summer as they got to the semi finals.

It looks like he’s capable of chipping in with the odd goal too, of course I’ve never seen him play but his stats, age and relative experience bodes well if we pull this off

He is definitely leaving, whether it is to us reamins to be seen.

Sparta Rotterdam has reached an agreement on the transfer of Abdou Harroui. The midfielder is still in talks with the club in question and has been given permission to reach an agreement and possibly undergo a medical examination afterwards.

Has been linked with Galatasary, but remains a mystery as to who.

So if both he and Garner come in do they form the new combo replacing Yates and Colback? Is that the assumtion? Or would have be in a more advanced position in the middle?

We will form a midfield 3 entirely made up of defensive players to wind people up some more.

It is hard to say what his position is. He is listed as a DM in a 4-2-3-1 or a RM in a 4-4-2 but looks like he gets forward a lot and drifts into wide areas from the video.

Can't see us signing another midfielder in addition to Garner, but I'd love it to be true. Seems like the kind of target I've been hoping the new set up would come up with.

It'd be nice to sign Garner, this guy (or someone else starting XI worthy) and for Hughton (or whoever manages us next) to acknowledge Fornah and Cafu's existence so we can banish Yates and Colback to being nothing more than distant memories.

Personally speaking, I've not given up on Yates - yet - but I agree with the rest.

Cafu offers far less than Yates does, seems to be a player that benefits more from being out of the team regarding peoples opinion of him. Doesn't offer anything going forwards and offers even less defensively, still not entirely sure what his preferred position is and how long has he been here?

By no means is he a bad player but no idea what people saw in him to think he was effective

We looked by far our best last season with Cafu at the base and Garner just ahead of him - Krovinovic ahead of him. By far.

Our best football last season included a midfield of Garner and Cafu. Cafu isn't spectacular, but is decent enough.

Yates on the other hand, how often have we played well with him in the starting XI? How often do we win when he starts? OK squad player at best, IMO.

Relying on Cafu in a holding role is not a good idea, had something like a 30% success rate with tackles and interceptions last season. Picks up yellow cards at a rate even Colback would be proud of and had overall less pass % than Yates.

I personally think Yates would be better used as someone to press higher up the pitch not allowing opposition teams time on the ball (something Krovi did well), or even as a box-box midfielder but even if we're pairing someone with Garner to be the defensive work horse there's absolutely no chance Cafu plays that role better than Yates does

Being perfectly honest I don't think Cafu is good at anything. Not really a progressive passer and certainly isn't good at defensive duels. Zero goals so far.

I would say his best strength is driving forward with the ball but more often than not he gets the ball taken off him.

The only real use I can think of is when coming against a top team who play through a creative deep midfielder and using him as a #10 to press high and counter it. But that's only a handful of games a season and is a very negative approach that fans wouldn't stand for anyway

Not even good enough to be a squad player.

If Arter can't get in the squad I fail to see how Yates does. We just look terribly bad whenever he plays. It's like he possesses an anti fluency/ cohesion power. He's a spoiler all right...for our team.

Looking at Sparta's last team and he was in the "2" in a 4-2-3-1 but in a lot of the videos he looks to have a lot of freedom and is often in widish channels looking part of a 4-3-3 doesn't it.

Yeah I assumed they played a 4-3-3 but it is always listed as a 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2. He looks comfortable with the ball wherever he is playing. Seems strong but also quick.

This is important. Both are qualities we have lacked. Samba Sow was strong part of the reason he stood out (when he was fit, that is). Everyone else seems to have stronger and quicker players than us. Encouraged by the mention of him having a burst of pave over 5 yards, it's that initial burst that leaves opponents for dead. Again, we see it regularly, as opposing players leave Colback and Yates behind.

Being totally ignorant does have it's disadvantages, though. I mean, I know nothing about this chap's injury record, though I'm sure it's impressive if he's come onto our radar.
