A week in politics

Thank god we didn’t have the chaos of Ed Milliband.
And let us not forget, „Red Ed“ couldn’t eat a bacon sandwich and his dad was a communist traitor apparently?

Sometimes the mental grasp of the average tabloid reader is measured in millimetres.

Ah yes, Ralph Miliband according to the Mail "the man who hated Britain" who also fought against the Nazis unlike the Daily Mail whose owner was a friend of Hitler, supported appeasement and thought fascism was cool. Mind you Miliband was a refugee so no wonder they hated him.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Saturday he aims to remain in power until the middle of the next decade, despite calls for him to quit, which would make him the country's longest continuously serving leader in 200 years.

Well just because it's his aim doesn't mean it's either going to happen or it's what anyone else wants.

Looking at it the next election has to be before Jan 2025, in actual fact since the previous election was held in December and usually they're in May they'll probably have it in May 2024. But if they do have it as late as possible, the Tories win, and Boris is still leader, unless they call another one, then it will be 2030 before the next one (which will be in 2029 if they have it in May). So in theory Boris can get to 2030 with one election win but that's not likely to be the right timing.

2029 to 2034 is middle of the next decade which is 2 more election wins.

But I seriously doubt it's going to happen like that.

I think Tony Blair won 3 elections (97, 01 and 05) and remains the only modern Labour leader to win a General Election, the '10 election ended up with a coalition, and those since (and before since Thatcher) have all been Tory wins, and though they did have various policies etc which made them unpopular with some, I don't think Blair and Thatcher came across ever as self-adoring or untrustworthy than Boris can, and it still feels like it's only a matter of time before he would self-destruct in office anyway. He's never usually stuck at anything for long so why this is being mooted as possible I don't understand.

In fact there's a relatively high possibility that in the wake of the by-elections etc that the 1922 committee will change the rules allowing another VoNC to be held before the previous year and then he'll be off anyway. More likely than him still being sat here in 12 years time.

Still waiting for my business to flourish after being free from the red tape from Brussels.

Instead I am paying around 10% extra on all imports coming in from the EU in customs fees and al the paperwork I have to fill in to export to the EU.

Rachael Johnson seems to think its important that if you sum the Tory vote in the two recent byelections its more than the Labour vote.

Not sure what her point is.
In 2019 the Corbyn led Labour Party got more votes than Blair's New Labour in 2005, one lead to a majority Labour government the other to their biggest defeat in nearly a century.

Just watched the press clip of the G7 and it appears they are taking the piss out of Putin and his (in)famous bare-chested horse ride photos. Bantz

I was heartened to see, on the local News, footage of some of the world‘s most powerful leaders gathered in Bayern today.

Apparently the MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip was there too?

I've just seen some of our local MPs attempt at humour on Twitter, its depressing knowing that our representatives in Parliament take the shape of Lee Anderson and Brendan Clarke-summatorother.

Not wanting to get personal by any stretch of the imagination but the level of incompetence coupled with disregard for public opinion makes me mad.

They used to say you gave a politicians answer if you were none committal with an opinion, its amazing how much that has changed.

The ad got one thing right, wages are up, no where near inflation or the increase in fuel or gas or electric or shopping or house prices or, well just about everything else that went wrong.

Ah yes I saw the party/beer/curry gag from 30p Lee and 2 other nobodies. Wouldn't think Labour would want 30p Lee back, in the words of Arnold Rimmer "You took him you can keep the smegger".

Here's 30p Lee pretending to clean Winston Churchill's statue after it had already been cleaned by teenagers the night before and then a professional cleaner (ironically called Winston).

Anderson is a noob tbh

Here someone put a plaque on a wire mesh fence by a railway bridge as it was the only thing they could think of which Randall had actually done...
