2026-27 preparation - hopes and dreams

Premier League Survivors
Need to buy:
Competition for Sels
Right back
Replacement for Anderson
2 wingers
Striker

Plus a wild card that we don’t ‘need’ but that comes available - could be in any position.

If we just to keep what we have, we’ll go backwards.

Should aim to come above teams like the promoted 3, Leeds, Everton, Palace, Spurs, Sunderland and get midtable.
Sounds good to me. I think VP get another CB into the group too.

My take. Cut a deal to save Face for Newcastle and get Elanga back. Those that question his quality are bonkers in my view

He’s exactly what we need

i work with mostly newcastle fans and 99% of them severely dislike the bloke. best any of them can say is 'theres a player in there somewhere' .

he's been absolutely terrible for them this season. plays like he doesn't give a shit

Their fans were on his back from the start. Never looked like he's enjoying his football since arriving. I recon he'd jump at the chance of a return, and I think he'd shine again for us if he did.

because they are a bunch of absolute morons, every single one of them.

they think they should be challenging for the title every season and have zero understanding of patience or support. bunch of pricks, he's better off out of there

First Team Squad
Trouble is Newcastle are a team that outwork teams and have the ball a hell of a lot. They are also very front footed which means other teams sit in and won’t give them any space behind there defence ! And that’s exactly where Elanga does his best work ! Said before not quite sure why he moved there as he wouldn’t fit in !

Let it be a lesson to others as well. I know there’s lots of different reasons for leaving but did Brennan love it at Spurs? Would MGW have had the same time there this season has he gone?

I think my hope and dream for the next few seasons is a sense of stability and development, incremental improvement. That is probably a pipe dream, as Marinakis wants results now.

I'd hope to keep most players, including Anderson, who must know that he might not be the first name on team sheet at Man City. We are in dire need of backup/competition for that right back spot, as Jair Cunha, while certainly a willing and improved player, does not really fit in there.

Chris Wood is getting on in years, and while still very imposing, I think his 20 goals a season period is behind him. A striker is, however, the most expensive player (perhaps beside a no. 10). Is signing someone from the lower leagues all out? I mean, the Championship is better than 2/3 of European elite divisions.

I hope for stability in the managerial department, and that VP gets a chance to build a squad he wants. I'd like to see Forest keeping the Brazilian connection and picking up more gems. We have not done badly in that department at all. For the money paid for him, I think we can be happy with Igor Jesus, too. He might come good next season with more goals. He certainly has a very special skillset, and is surprisingly quick.

As I said when Murillo signed his new contract, I don't think as fans we give enough credit to the family feel and closeness of the squad and club. These players have seen 2 highly touted important players in Johnson and Elanga leave the club for big fees and both have seen their careers stall and them not enjoying football.

The players at the cub will have seen this aNd it will give them pause for thought, as at the end of the day whatever the job we'd all prefer to go to a happy workplace and have a good laugh.

Frankly, Murillo giving it the "You Reds!" chant was the highlight of the season (and of many others!)

That the Brasilian has made a home for his family in Nottingham cannot be simply overlooked.

Would welcome Elanga back, but would seem improbable. For the loss they'd have to take on a sizeable outlay, and given his age, they may as well give him another season

I'm not a greedy man and i don't want much out of life - i just want to walk around the corner of Bridgford Road and see a table free by a window.

It's one of life's mysteries as to what time you need to get in there for to bagsy one, and my lot estimate it would be as much as 5 hours before kick off.
