Apropos of nothing, I think we'll stay in this right to the end of the transfer window if we don't get him before.

I suspect the club sees his value as a convex curve. You could put a lot of money down and in 2/3 years either lose 25% of his value or double it and more.

That's the basics of it. His future potential is considered that he could become the best English midfielder. Not one of the best, but the best.

I suspect the question the club has to ask, do we have the coaches and the philosophy to enable that?

I don't know if we'll get him. That looks like it's down to Wolves. They share the vision of his potential.

Their gambit is similar - keep him and get him to sign a new deal that could double over what Forest are offering or see him walk away in two seasons.

Forest's risk is less, we're guaranteed some resale value. That's why we'll stay in on this.

Agree with the above, and also wonder if the hwang bid is posturing somewhat - give us what we want and we'll step aside for him.

Wolves are asking: if we want to be them.

If that means a consolidated premier league club, then yes.
If it means being a classless shithole, home to Englands most embarrassing loss. Then no, we'd rather be in the Championship.

He's not exactly pulling up trees for Wolves - of course you could argue he's playing at 90% maybe coz he wants away but then again he should be playing his best to encourage the interest - either way its not encouraging me he's worth anything like the kind of money being touted now

Everton apparently confident of beating us to him.
Wayne Veysey, professional bs merchant has written a story on this.

He says we bid £20m and Everton £22.5m and MGW would prefer Everton with no explanation as to why.

More credible journos have us already as having bid £25m and still may go back.

Lord knows what will end up happening but Wolves need the cash and have already given Everton their captain on a loan to buy because Everton don't have the cash to buy him so can't seen them going all in on a midfielder, especially when they've got no fit strikers.

I actually feel sorry for Wayne Veysey at this point.

This has turned into such a joke, at this point im not even that bothered where he ends up.

Wolves have clearly shit the bed here though, They could have been a bit too clever with his initial valuation and are now backtracking a bit.

Bored of it to be honest, he'll end up where he ends up. A move to Everton would probably put paid to any potential he has being realised though. They are an utter mess as a club with random players filling holes in position they dont usually play in, a bench full of players on hideous money and no real identity as a team. MGW needs Everton like a hole in the head, but money talks I guess.

Cant wait for the window to close so we can just talk about football, its becoming beyond tedious.
