Nixon posted something about us not meeting the fee behind his paywall.

Managed to find out... Says we aren't at the fee yet, he does have a release fee (£10m), Hudds want that to be met but it doesn't have to be paid all in one lump sum, Hudds also want at least a 20% sell on which is more than we've offered so far.

Yes-I think that was the Christmas game in 1971 where Ian Storey-Moore scored his brilliant solo goal and
Alan Ball made his Arsenal debut.
I went to that game, I remember Allan Ball’s White Boots

This will be finalised over the weekend I reckon.

Good age and a decent price just like the other lads we have signed up.

I do hope we sign an older player to offer some experience in the midfield though on a 1/2 year deal.

I was hoping we’d get a more experienced head in midfield too, but with the amount our central midfielders run, it’s hard to balance the two. Not many veterans can cover the pitch like Garner, O’Brien etc.

Someone like Fabian Delph would have been good, if he wasn’t injured all the time. He had a very good engine on him a few years ago but is permanently crocked nowadays.

I’m guessing if we do pick up an older head, he’ll be 28/29 so he can still do the running, rather than 32/33.

Hopefully a midfield version of Cook will come in, be able to play a good chunk of games and help guide the younger lads through games if we’re hanging on.

I'd rather we had younger players in midfield rather than an 'experienced' head, to be honest. Given how we play and the intensity of the Premier League, central midfield isn't really somewhere that we can afford to have someone who is slow and doesn't have high energy levels.

Any experienced midfielder who can still do all of the above and is proven in the Premier League will be already playing regularly for a Premier League club anyway and would cost an absolute fortune to sign.

I was there too- I remember all the pre-match press and TV (what little there was of it then) was all focussed on Alan Ball's debut, only for it to be eclipsed by Ian Moore's super goal.
What a lot of people don't remember about that game is that although Alan Ball was making his debut for Arsenal and yes Paul Richardson did mark him out of the game, a certain European Cup winner was making his debut for Forest. Tommy Gemmell

Probably waiting for the weather to turn so he can leave his house and sign-up.

Probably waiting for the weather to turn so he can leave his house and sign-up.

So, to surmise:

He will leave the house to sign if there is no threat of him being singed. If he is signed before the end of this week, it’s likely he has risked being singed by leaving to sign but the signs are that he will not be singed if he does so. But, if he leaves it until Sunday or Monday, he will be definitely be singed while he is signed - according to the signs - and if he wants to sign after those days, it’s unclear if he will be singed or signed either way because we just can't accurately predict the signs that far ahead?

Is that correct?

Perfect guy to play alongside Yates, or Colback. He also seems to have been (largely) injury free so far. Never a bad thing. Real good signing and great value at 10 million.

Mata is being mentioned as going to Leeds. He would have been a good shout.

Still pretty worried about our central midfield and I was before Yates and O'Brien got injured :ROFLMAO:

O’Brien took a knock in the playoff final. Fell over in the penalty area I think..
