Sign him up, Zink deserves a crack at the prem with 2 promotions in his last 2 seasons. We were a much better team with him in it last year.

Maybe we want him “in the building” as such in case we go down to the wire and miss out on Gibbs White late in the window?

Then Zinc comes in on loan from Oly….

We wouldn't be wasting a loan on Zinc. We'll buy him for £2-4m I reckon, any more than that we won't bother.

It wouldn’t be wasting a loan. He’d be coming from abroad so wouldn’t count as one of two domestic slots.

I’d take him, especially for £2m

Squad player, and if the worst was to happen and we did go down he’d be a good player to have
I think that's probably where I am too.
For me it would depend on his personality and what I mean by that is would he be one of those guys who's happy to play a squad role in the prem and get maybe 15-20 appearances without moaning and causing trouble. If so get him in. If not don't bother, but Coops will know from last season...

2m is a no brainer, we need too many new players for them to all be costing 10m plus. He's likely to be good enough as a squad player or even a starter for a few games when in a rich vein of form.

If Zincs signs for anyone for around 2-3m and it's not us then we've dropped a massive bollock.

We need allot of players, we need them to gel asap, so signing him for a low fee when he likes it here, knows how we play and is a decent enough player is a no brainer.

Would an international deal still not fall foul of the "can't buy and loan out in the same window" rule though? Meaning if Oly basically bought him to loan to us, we couldn't have him until Jan.

Those rules are for domestic loans only. Here's the official summary, international section at bottom

Under the rules in the Premier League Handbook 2021/22 (Download PDF, size: 21.6MB), there are restrictions on how many players Premier League clubs can loan from other Premier League/English clubs.

They are:
- Premier League clubs may not register more than two players on loan at any one time.
- The maximum number of loans registrable in the same season is four, and, under no circumstances, shall more than one be from the same club at any one time.
- Premier League clubs cannot loan to another Premier League club a player they have acquired in the same transfer window.
- A Premier League club may loan not more than one of its goalkeepers to another Premier League club.

With the exception of Welsh clubs competing in the competitions listed under Rule V.6.2, loans from a club in membership of another National Association do not count towards the above quotas.

Reports in Greece, that we're signing him instead of you. Deemed not good enough for the Premier perhaps?

Under FIFA rules concerning loans of players in international football: "From 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2023, a club may have a maximum of eight professionals loaned out and eight loaned in at any given time during a season."

Sky Sports says this...

"FIFA has announced new loan rule plans that will limit clubs to six loan signings and six loan exits per season.

New regulations capping the number of international loans in and out at any club are set to come into force in July, however, players aged 21 or under and club-trained players will be exempt from the new guidelines.

The rules do not cover domestic loans, but FIFA has said national associations must bring their regulations in line within three years - so by July 1, 2025 at the latest.

The new rules, drawn up with the intention of helping to develop young players, improve competitive balance and prevent the stockpiling of players, were originally due to be implemented in July 2020 but were delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Provided the regulations are given final approval by the FIFA Council, between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023 clubs will be limited to a maximum of eight international loan signings in and eight loaned out, dropping to seven in 2023-24 and remaining at six from 2024-25."

I had posted previously in the Summer 2022 Transfer Window thread (post #772) that, according to the Premier League website, "with the exception of Welsh clubs competing in the competitions listed under Rule V.6.2, loans from a club in membership of another National Association do not count towards the above quotas."

V.6.2. between a Club and a club in membership of The Football League, the National League, the Northern Premier League, the Isthmian League and the Southern League.

We are also restricted on the number of loans we can have with any individual club in another country, which is a maximum of 3 in and 3 out.

So, as I understand it, we can bring in two loans at a time from the English domestic leagues plus up to eight loans from non-domestic (international) leagues including, presumably, Scottish clubs as they are not mentioned under Rule V.6.

It's not beyond the realms of possibility that Oly will buy Zincs and then loan him to us.

I'm not being funny but what would be the point in Oly buying him and loaning him to us. They are probably closer to FFP limits than us now.

Hopefully they have just got the clubs mixed up again.

That's my thinking, they get far far less income than us now.

That's just between PL clubs.

Possibly for a bit of creative accounting. He gets some game time in the Prem and at the end of the loan Oly can move him on again for a higher fee if he does well enough. He'd also most likely be on lower wages contracted to Oly than he would be if we bought him.

I remember reading an interview with him before Christmas last year where he said that game-time was the most important thing for him, which is why he joined us. End of the day, he is Watford's player and if they are going to play him, I don't think we would or should sign him to be in our starting XI. He's had some good games, but I don't think he's a Premierleague player.

To be fair, neither did Watford, which is why rather than use him, they loaned him to us. They didn't exercise his call back option either in January.

That said, he'd kill it at Olympiacos. That sort of league would really suit him.

Nottingham's dirty secret
For 2-3m he's an absolute steal. So vital to everything good that we did last season. Runs his bollocks off and links play like a boss.

Would be gutted if he went elsewhere for that price.

Any Time Now

A move to Olympiacos does leave him 'on standby' (with the sweetener of European football in Greece for a year) incase we get relegated as he's proven how effective he is at Championship level

Feel a bit bad for him because he's been involved in 2 promotions now and rightly deserves a shot in the prem. I just think he's a bit of a liability on the ball at times, holds onto it for 2-3 touches too many and runs into dead ends or loses the ball

The big problem is that the areas of the pitch where he tends to give away posession are 'danger zones' which is a recipe for disaster against premier league teams who would eat us alive on the counter. That being said his ability to find space between the lines and his workrate off the ball are both excellent

He's a good player that falls slightly short of being a very good player, he could iron out his game in a year and hit his potential (I hope he does) but as things stand we won't be able to give him the 1st team minutes he wants
