That Cucurella has just gone for a huge amount after one season in the Prem.

Point I'm making is you sometimes have to back your judgement. MGW might not be worth £40 mill now, but next season he might.

So we shall see just how the NFFC gang value this guy.
Come on 40M is just getting stupid.
I’d have hoped we had an alternative on the list in case of this sort of codswallop from Wolves.
I honestly don’t think we can afford 35 let alone 40 and whilst he might be worth 50 in 2 years if he plays out of his skin consistently and doesn’t get injured it’s like backing a horse before it’s run at the top level just because it had a too sire-in other words a bloody lottery

Apparently they want £50m now, think we move on if that's the price

Ok Bruno.

If they're being silly buggers, move on. If they just want the clauses rejigged, do what we're willing to and then move on. If he keeps refusing to sign a contract they'll change their tune.

Seems like if the player isn't interested in signing a new contract then Wolves are simply guaranteeing themselves nothing. Their stance makes it feel like MGW plans to sign.

Doesn’t add up, we keep smashing bigger bids in. He’d hand in a transfer request early if we were in control and he’s be getting a bigger contract and signing on bonus. When a player hands in a transfer request and publocally isn’t signing a new deal the price drops.
The reason he won't be quick to hand a transfer request in is because he won't get paid up for his remaining 2 years. It's pretty standard for player and selling club to agree an percentage, there's also a loyalty bonus which is pretty hefty. He won't see any of that if he hands a transfer request in but he'll be entitled to a percentage if the club choose to sell him.

I thought his contract ran out in 23, is there a club option for the following year? Apologies if I missed that.

Collymore!

Thankyou Steve!
I’d imagine we’d be prepared to give him a signing on bonus which covers anything he’d lose in loyalty bonus’ - should be a fair bit cheaper than FIFTY MILLION.

Fair to say we won’t be paying £50m.

Unfortunately for Bruno, it's not him who decides the price, it'll be the higher ups.

Probably still won't be coming here mind, but if someone bid let's say £35m upfront then it's unlikely he'll have any say in the matter.

He signed a contract extension last August at the same time he moved to Bramall Lane, with Wolves tying him down until 2024

Wolves have had a new deal non the table since the beginning of June.

He hasn't put pen to paper for a reason.

They know it. We know it.

It's just about the numbers and the timing.
Yeah but Bruno says 50m so...

Wonder how much he's worth if a transfer request goes in? Not insinuating anything as not itk in any way, and can't see that happening as previously stated, but I bet things get cheaper that way?

£50m for MGW, £15m for Davies - what is it with the looney player valuations in Birmingham!
English tax🤷🏻‍♂️

Sure we could search abroad for alternatives.
Okafor would cost similar price or cheaper.

Tbh I think it's getting to the point where the only way we'll get him is if he does put one in.
I'm not so sure - just re-reading that tweet (ignoring the managers 'I really like you shout' sounds like a you pay more up front plea. This bit: "The bid rejected from Forest earlier today was £25m with £10m add-ons, but many of those clauses are believed to be unlikely to happen."

"£25m up front with a further £10m if we fail to qualify for the Champions League."

Both Wolves and MGW can afford to take their time. Still has 2 years left on his contract. If he only had a year, it'd be a different story.

Forest need to move on IMO.

Bruno sounds like he's been on the Lager (Lage).

Yes, Bruno. I will buy those speakers from you even though they only have bricks in the back of them.

Let's have a coffee and talk it out. I'll pay. Because I know you won't.

Lage will change his tune when they sign some players

He is in a results business & has run out of players. He is gonna say stuff like that so the club don’t sell. He will play tomorrow because they don’t have any other options.

The only way the deal gets done IMO is if we are willing to wait for Wolves to sign some players.

He'll play tomorrow because a) he's good , and b) he's contracted.

I don't see how he's not in Wolves best side now, so I understand them wanting to keep him for the same reasons we're wanting to get him.

I know the ground has shifted due to us getting promoted, but with a recent re-signing and two years on his contract, we may in the end have to wait for next summer to force it through (assuming we stay up).

Its totally up to Wolves to value him as they wish. Theres limits though and I think we need to move on. The only way he signs for Forest is if he hands in a transfer request and I honestly dont think hed be THAT desperate to move here. Its a sideways move at best.

I applaud Forest for trying and I applaud Wolves for holding out, but that figure is utterly ridculous. Wolves are either playing a very clever game that now gone too far, or they actually value him far more than anyone expected.

For me, we need to move on now, as much as id love to have him here, theres a limit, and that figure far exceeds it.

I think they see us spending a lot of money, they see a midlands rival, they see a team who may potentially overtake them if they're not careful.

They see a huge talent on their books, they see how much we want him. They begin to realise his true value, they begin to stand firm.

In a nutshell.
