If it weren't us involved, I reckon more of us would hold a similar view...

Ordinarily, you'd expect any player to join a more established, well-placed club trying to get a more solid foothold in the European competitions.

For a player not to follow that path is pretty exceptional.

I'd certainly be more sceptical if he'd joined another team and would at least be wondering about his motives.

As it is, he came here so its pretty obvious what we have to offer if you're a fanatical Forest fan.

I think some people are being a bit thin skinned on here.

Neville does make some legitimate points about how Forest could be destabilised if we are struggling halfway through the season and Lingards future is being debated.

On the other points that Carragher makes it is hard to understand why he thinks that West Ham are such a fantastic draw that nobody could possibly refuse them. In fairness , he does say that he welcomes Forest to the Premier League. It will be interesting to see what both say when we go ahead of West Ham in the League.

I thought both of them were fair in the full video

Although I didn't get Neville's obsession with not understanding the 1 year deal. 1 year deal suits all parties perfectly, and he underestimates how our fans will get behind him. Clearly brainwashed by the Man Utd fan mentality of hounding every player that isn't perfect - it's shocking to him that a club could have good supporters.

A 3 year deal from our POV would have been very risky, 1 year deal is no risk at all past this season. Why is that so hard for him to understand.

On the Athletic talk-in, Tails says that the weekly wage is around £110k including bonuses.

Has anyone checked in on the talksport lot? They must be exploding, torn between their beloved west ham and fat frank stealing their player.

Meanwhile, I'm really looking forward to seeing the lad in the Garibaldi. Seems to be fitting in well.

I suppose pundits feel they have to post, either because they are well-known in their sphere and like to keep themselves in the public eye or, most likely, because they have a contract to post their opinions.

I'm sure, often, they just don't really have anything interesting or original to add to the party, so they post utter balderdash, hoping that it will fit the bill and satisfy the paymasters.

I think this happens about 90% of the time.

Because they’re stupid. Can’t believe they can’t see the reasoning behind the details from both parties..

I don’t buy the “destabilisation” next season bit. It’s pretty easy, either he plays well and plays regularly in which case we will likely be higher up the table than otherwise. If that’s the case and he’s enjoying it I think it’s likely he stays.
If he doesn’t play well or gets injuries such that he’s not regularly influencing games he’s not the kingpin and what happens then is less important.

What I don’t see is him having a average-poor season and swanning off to a top 10 side

It's all about mid-table...
Bit worried about this lad. Really hope he has a stomer of a year here, because that's important to get us near the top.
Not seen hardly anything of him so I don't know why I feel a bit edgy.
He's the type of player that comes with reputation but usually flops when he enters the CG.

We'll see, hope he gets off to a flyer.

My concern is injury. He looks like a fairly high tempo player and either he’s going to be seeing a lot of the ball or he’s going to be working pressing.
This sort of player when at Forest at least always seems to get niggles, particularly when they been on the fringes at other clubs or not had a full preseason.
On the other hand if he stays fit I think he’ll do well for us…

If he still had a year left on his Man Utd deal and he joined on loan nobody would bat an eyelid, just say good signing.
