Hey

I am a supporter of the Stade Malherbe de Caen (and of Joe Strummer too, you guessed it) where Da Costa was on loan this season. A small ambitious league 2 club, we strongly hope that we can keep Da Costa with us next season, he made a great job, although he is under contract and his salary is complicated to assume given our salary grid. Would be nice if possible to find some deal, I think he enjoyed playing with us, and he looks like what we need to see further.

No questions specifically, just the opportunity for me to wish you the best for the coming season. Good to see NFU and Brice Samba in PL.

best regards
sorry for my english if not perfect

Glad he has done well for you. He is not popular here but I think it was always harsh, he looked decent when he played, he was just a waste of money for us so not looked at favourably.

There is zero chance he will be involved in the future here so I imagine if you want him enough you will get him.

I liked him. Wasn’t up to the standard/wasn’t being used properly but he was always honest, worked hard. Hope he goes on to good things somewhere

The Da Costa signing was an odd one - can't understand why be bought a striker of his type to then play on the wing? It's a blur now but did we switch managers somewhere, or is it that whoever was in charge didn't fancy him and he was bought in by whoever was pulling the strings then? He really had no chance with us.

it was the ill fated January window under lamouchi and it’s unclear to me if Sabri asked for those players or were given them.

Apparently Sabri wanted diakhaby so you never know.

He probably did want them. Whether there were higher priority players he wanted but didn't get for some reason is another point.

We got in Samba from France the summer before, think it was after the season started when we played Muric, think Sabri was aware of him as he'd been managing in the top division there. Would expect he was aware of Da Costa as he'd come from the same route and I think Diakhaby was signed by hudds from French league too.

Bong was probably seen as a safe replacement for Chema who had gone back to Spain and had come from a PL side who he had won promotion with. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but that was the view on here at the time as well.

It always makes me laugh when people have a go at him for scoring that own goal against Stoke.

He was our striker and was the furthest player tracking back as quick as he could to try and stop them scoring which would end the season. If anything that is more a reflection of everybody else that day.
Exactly it’s not his fault in fact I thought it was admirable showing that level of commitment just a shame he was a naff footballer.

Slowly but surely we're ridding the club of the pre-Dane shite. If Caen want him they can have him, for free if it was up to me.

Whilst they're at it they don't fancy a former Premier league and international midfield general called Arter do they, along with these magic beans I'm selling?

The problem is both Da Costa and Arter have existing contracts with forest, at weekly wages far ahead of what Caen could ever offer.
Neither player is likely to accept a termination of contract without being paid the contractual wages from the date of early termination to the contractual end date.
