No Ash I was on about the Lingard press but I am in total agreement the stuff about how many players we got is boring, lazy and untrue. The victim complex is when we get heated about people saying Lingard has moved for money or harmed his England chances. Yes we may not agree but they are fair arguments and not below the belt we should give reasons why that may not be the case and get on with it. Not this #talkshite business or seeing posts where they are trying to say because Lingard is black that there is racism which I havent seen on here thank god. Its very heated and going over the top. However it is boring now and I much more interested in whos coming next! Ive just seen Romano talk about WIlliam Carvlaho 😍
To be honest I'm not bothered about people thinking he moved for the money or has harmed his England chances, they are more than entitled to that opinion. What annoys me (and probably most other fans) is the bullshit figure of £200k per week I see being banded about to support these arguments (a figure discredited by numerous reliable sources) and the repetitiveness of it all (is there really any need for a new article/opinion piece every five minutes? And nearly a week on?). Anyone accusing those with those opinions of being racists are clowns though, I agree on that.

I think its time the media (and TalkSport in particular) moved on, the topic has been done to death at this point.

As long as the algorithm sees value in the narrative, sadly, it will continue. Them algorithm's love a conflict.

Unfortunately you are most probably right. A lot of TalkSports and other media outlets content (not just about Forest) seems to be rage bait.

I suppose one thing promotion to the Premier League has shown us is just how shoddy the media is nowadays.

Can't blame the media entirely. They only reflect back at us what we want to read/hear.
Marshall McLuhan. Are you doing a Media Studies degree with the OU at the moment? :ROFLMAO:

There is an increasingly complex war being waged for the most valuable commodity on Earth; our attention. And, nothing grabs and holds our attention more than that which engages negative emotion - rage ,anger etc.

It's why I keep coming back to here.

You wait until August 8th. The majority will be booking flights to Stuttgart to burn Strummer for convincing us all that the Bundesliga recruits are top-tier and our saviours.

Good luck with that, they’d have to go via Frankfurt and subject themselves to the whim of Deutsche Bahn.

Glen Johnson turned down an extension to his £120k a week deal at Liverpool as they "only" offered him £60k a week over 2 years to join Stoke on £100k a week instead. Both his Liverpool deal and Stoke deal were for more money than Lingard is on so I'm probably inclined to ignore him who like the other vehement critical commentators seems to also coincidentally have began his career at West Ham and LEFT them to get paid more somewhere else.

How much money would he needed to have been paid before he stopped shoplifting toilet seats from B&Q?

There was one fantastic through ball and he worked perfectly in the Zink role. Shooting a bit off.

Will only get better.

I still stand by my opinion that the contract length is what swayed it. West Ham supposedly wanted Lingard on a 3 year deal, which I suspect he didn't want having looked at what move Eriksen was able to get after a short term deal at Brentford. A good year at Forest will open a lot of doors for Lingard next summer.

Aye... I'd like to think a reasonable season for Forest in the Premier League and it would be nice to think Lingard would want to stay at NFFC.

It may be that he enjoys his time here and wants to stay (with a bit of a pay rise in his next contract), or maybe a bigger club than either Forest or West Ham will come sniffing.

Either way, if he has a good season here the chances are Forest will still be a Premier League club next season. A year's contract is mutually beneficial at this point to both Lingard and Forest. It's smart business IMO.
