Does anyone remember League 1 Derby County? (STILL the worst team in history!)

... and also the sort who won't touch it when he sees what it really is

Ashley has enough capital to see it as pocket money, run it on a shoe string until it breaks even by itself.

He's a master of that.

From 2018 so could have altered now, but whilst obviously the kind of wad the likes of us could only dream of, it’s not chump change like it would be for £2bn+ rated Ashley.

Meanwhile on the next door forum this news seems to have been treated with a spontaneous outburst of apathy.

Strange how they all seem to have become a bit cynical all of a sudden!

I always thought he might be in the running after he agreed a deal for the stadium.

I wonder though if it’s an impulse buy, if so he could regret it very quickly!

If he is very wealthy and a life long fan, where has he been since last September?

Can’t blame them really, they’ve been stung plenty already

Hopefully he’s a complete novice and quickly out of his depth but if I was a Derby fan I would be very happy with this news.

You'd think they take absolutely anybody at this point as long as they survive.

If sounds like to me that this David Clowes is genuine and wants to buy them so they don’t die which is fair enough and admirable however he dosen’t sound like an owner that the derby fans over in Mordor want. Someone to come in and wipe all debt so they can storm to a league one winners season. The guys in Mordor have to get used to the fact there are going to be plenty more years of pain until they get back on a even keel and once more they should just be grateful for that.

Just had a look at Clowes Developments staff profiles. A lot of them are Derby season ticket holders including David Clowes son, who has been a season ticket holder since he was 10.

Interesting how none of the #ITK folk mentioned this guy, but apparently he’s been negotiating the purchase of the ground for the last couple of weeks.

Seems as though this has all been carried out behind the scenes and the leaked information creating the necessary distraction to enable it.

Suggests that he’s on strong terms with Morris.

Would say that is correct.

The team attempting to buy the stadium with the Kirchner interest consisted of around 6-8 local businessman, one of whom I know having done some work for him. (Not David Clowes I might add).

The issues will come into DD - even if they were to out down £50m, it simply will not be enough and this crazy thought that the HMRC are just going to sit there and accept it as Notcher has said is just folly.

Every potential purchase had got to this point and simply withdrawn, the only party that hasn’t bulked is Mike Ashley. I would suggest that the reasoning for this is he already has a solid plan.

preferred bidder = best of a bad bunch ?

if he does bail them out fully then Mel should do the right thing and invite him to kick him right up the bollocks at halftime first game of the season as a primitive form of compensation.

many on here have had it right from the get go, either pay in full ( HMRC want what’s due) or down the pan and start as phoenix club.

as for the fans I’ve ordered slippers and a dildo.

I think this is a last resort bid, to save the club.

I do know a couple of season ticket holders at Derby, who speak to him at games, and he’s never appeared keen to buy the club, whenever asked. The ground yes, and I guess if this was in place for the Crypto Kids deal, then he’s more than half way there.

Come on Dan - this is basically gas lighting.

You’ve talked about this subject exclusively since you rejoined the forum, given all of the nose taps and winks of Old Jom of days gone by, and have never mentioned that this buyer was coming in and buying the stadium.

Indeed, your posts about Mike Ashley have almost been propaganda in themselves.

Will say this, though. John Ashley is good friends with my parents. Have shown him your posts. ‘Wide of the mark’ is the polite response.
