Harry Arter

Otis Redding

Try A Little Tenderness
Going by the fact that he looked the part, and scored a very good goal against us a few weeks ago HP, that's quite an interesting link.

Hate to be negative but why do we need another 30 year old defensive midfielder

He's a Central midfielder who played a high enough line against us recently to suggest he could be a link between Colback & Freeman.

We need another CM & Id prefer this than another punt on an oversees player who may or may not take to English conditions. Puts himself about & can play.

Id be up for this.

I wouldn't necessarily say Arter is a defensive midfielder, always struck me as more of a box to box type, definitely likes getting on the ball and he's capable of driving it forward, picking passes out and scoring the odd spectacular goal. Always thought of him as a bit of a midfield general perhaps that's what we need after Watson leaving?

As for his age it seems pretty clear Sabri wants a lot more experience about the squad this season, in fact he's spoken about it in interviews. I think supporters tend to have an old fashioned view of age with footballers as well, 30 used to be seen as heading to the knacker's yard but that was probably last relevant 20 years or so ago, with all the sports science and what not about now 30 doesn't mean a great deal Ben Watson is looking for another club now at 35. Though I do accept it's unlikely we'll get anything in terms of sell on potential.

Edit: Should add he's got a nasty side to him as well.

True, he was very good in that match. My mate is a Fulham supporter and absolutely loved Arter last season, said he was their most important player after coming back from injury.

Also I can now return to the question I asked yesterday but put a name to the player... Would we accept selling Yates for £2m if it meant bringing in Harry Arter? You're getting a player who is currently better but with fewer seasons left in his legs, is that trade off worth it? I can't speak for Sabri but given the fact he's got a finite time to get promoted it's probably worth it for him, he's unlikely to be around long enough to see if it's worth keeping hold of Yates.

Arter would be a cracking signing. I'd be surprised if clubs with deeper pockets than us weren't interested though.

The Artiste formally known as "Wanksy"
He was mint for Cardiff in the Prem, and that was only the season before last. Be a bang on signing in one of the key areas we need to strengthen.

Wonder if Warnock might come sniffing.

You said this about Taylor and Colback too

I do know what you mean though. It's one Forest probably rather stay under the radar if it's true.

True, and I'd love to be proven wrong again! But given how well Arter did for Fulham last season I'd imagine some of the parachute payment clubs would be interested if he's available.

Master Yates

John Robertson
Colback, Arter and Freeman. Yes please. Night and day from last year’s midfield once they get up and running.

On big money though, so I imagine a 3 year deal in the offing.

Arter and Jacob Murphy on loan and I’d say we have a first eleven that is absolutely capable of top 6, no excuses.

This would be a great signing, Colback, Arter and Freeman would be one of the best midfields in this league

Don't think we'll be winning any fair play leagues with Colback & Arter in the middle. Shove the PSG lad in at CB and thats an uncompromising looking spine.

A real game changer if we get Arter.

Don't have any confidence of Sow staying fit for any length of time. Bring Arter in and play him next to or just above Colback, if we insist on playing with two DM's. Yates and Bachiou as back up with Sow playing once in a blue moon.

Just had a read of their forum from their game last night. Apparently he was very good and this Kris Temple bloke who linked him to us reckons he's almost certainly leaving.

Arter would be the box-to-Box midfielder Forest have missed since Adlene did one.

It’s a massive yes from me.

I don't know the guy, but you most certainly need a box-to-box midfielder with different characteristics from Yates and Sow.

Be nice to find goals from midfield in the position if we willing to pay his wage.

Obviously not my only concern.
